I am an avid chainsaw user and fell tree's annually. I DESPISE MORE THAN ANYTHING having to split wood and that is a real dangerous act if you don't know what you are doing. I actually season it 2-3 years unsplit and load it into fires already going and it rocks.

I would NEVER hold a log for an axe wielder - thats crazy as its very common that the axe will glance and bounce around.

Hmmmmm . . . . . I never pictured you as an "outdoors type".

I live 40 minutes outside Boston. In an almost rural setting. There is a big misconception about Northeasterners In general. We do misintrepet the rules time to time but all in all this is a harsh climate a lot less "Big City" as stereotyped.

Heck, I love to go North up in New Hampshire, Maine and snowmobile. Owned my own Snowmobile past 10-12 years till it recently died on me. At $200 to now $300 a cord of wood I cut my own trees down. Keeps the fireplace going year round and keeps my oil bill down.

While we are throwing it out - My other hobby is power tools and carpentry. I was lucky as a teenager to have helped frame and build 3 houses and finish a few basements or additions as there is family trade on my wife's side. I have personally on weekends finished my last two unfinished basements. I learned this time to hire help to do final wallboard and finish work. That is Nuts and unless you really know what you are doing you can screw up a project badly.

Having cut literally Hundreds of tree's I have one word of wisdom. Only one close call that would have made many here happy!

Tree's generally fall where they lean, good advice to let nature do its thing and fell it that way. Ocassionally for target area's you can still cut and drop a tree the other way.

BEWARE - A tree that is leaning one way but grows up and at tops bends and leans the opposite way. As I cut it and started to cut and drop it away - the tree early in fall SNAPPED at mid tree and the top half of tree fell right towards me but luckily I was quick as hell and made it out just in time. It was a total freak thing - but I'm not putting my 3 chainsaws away anytime soon!

Somewhere Parcells just handed his Head Coach a new QB depth chart with Beck #1. I can't even imagine what Parcells is going to do to this *******!
