Risen Star;4087335 said:I don't agree. The difference in impact from the regular kicker, Bailey or whoever, and Buehler will be minimal if any with kickoffs moved up this year.
Give me the extra DB in the fold. Not just to help out this year but to keep that player on the roster for future years.
M'Kevon;4087344 said:Buehler's kicks go through the endzone. Bailey bounce at the 5, with the rule change. How is that possibly minimal?
Risen Star;4087339 said:Who said anything about that?
And why has Jason Garrett reached the level where his personnel decisions can't be questioned? Did I miss his great track record of building teams? Seems to me this is his first rodeo.
Risen Star;4087350 said:Because you just used two extremes to make your point.
And I'm not sure you won't see teams intentionally kicking it short this year to get even better field position for the defense. It's not just the ball that was moved up but the coverage team too.
M'Kevon;4087362 said:I believe only the fans believe teams will intentionally kick it short. No D or ST coordinator will want to chance a mis-kick, either out of bounds, or fair caught at the 34 yard line (both which has happened to other teams this preseason).
And those two extremes are the norms for both kickers, which is why Dallas has two specialists.
LatinMind;4087361 said:In every move thats happened this yr if its good all i see is cowboy fans applauding garrett cause it signals change for the cowboys. But if its something they dont like then Jerry is the devil. Its all in this thread and every other thread.
It feels like Cowboy fans are turning into Raider fans. Overreacting about some scrub that will be a scrub on some other team. Sure dallas mightve liked Thomas but im sure he wasnt going to be starting. He was depth. Def not starting material. Newman, Jenkins, Scandrick, McCann and Ball were all ahead of him.
Risen Star;4087377 said:It's the norm for Buehler to kick it out of the endzone and Bailey to the 5?
We'll see Sunday night.
M'Kevon;4087392 said:Do you really think JG is keeping Buehler for his boyish good looks, or could all the reports of Bailey's short kickoffs during camp actually have merit?
Risen Star;4087383 said:People are sick of Jerry and his nonsense. I think any fan who has gone through the last 16 years has a right to be all over his backside for every move that's made.
LatinMind;4087406 said:So in your mind Garrett didnt have any say in him being cut? It was all Jerry? Seems to me Jerrry has taken a step back in hovering over the team. Sure he talks too much to media, but its his team he can do whatever he wants. Jerry gives his coach what he needs. Its up to the coach to utilize it. Has Dallas missed out on some players? Sure, but im sure other teams wanting to give more had say so in players not coming here. Imagine if Paul Brown was running this team
flashback;4087112 said:Yeah, I would have loved to keep Josh Thomas around for at least a whole off-season, because he really looks like he has the physical skills and the temperment to be an NFL CB. But he's not ready. If the Cowboys thought they could take him active to the game, there's a good chance he'd be on the 53 instead of either Ball or McCann.
I'm glad Mario Butler made it to the PS.
You still don't get it. Buehler kicks are also higher where he can hang it up for the coverage to get down further. Bailey has to use a low trajectory to get it that far and that gives the return team a chance to break it open.Risen Star;4087350 said:Because you just used two extremes to make your point.

Risen Star;4087425 said:No. I'm not one of those people who thinks Jerry just dictates every move. He listens to his coaches and any head coach with a backbone and some selling ability can have a major influence over the moves made.
My hang up is the head coach shouldn't have to talk to the owner about such things. He should be bending the ear of a legitimate General Manager.
32 owners own NFL teams. It's their team they can do what they want. The ones that truly want to win hire qualified people to run the personnel. The single biggest reason why the Patriots have had their run is not Belichick, not Brady, not Pioli, but Robert Kraft.
LeonDixson;4087638 said:[/B]
I can't agree with that at all. Each of those you mentioned had more to do with winning than Kraft did.
