Rd 2 (#51): William Beatty OT Connecticut, not the sexy pick, but can become a very good OT with his quick feet and pass blocking potential.
Rd 3 (#69): Jarron Gilbert DE San Jose State, will become the new starter and can play right away in our rotation at DE.
Rd 4 (#97): Jason Williams LB Western Illinois, he will probably be gone at this point, but with other teams focusing on Olineman, he falls to us and we scoop him up to replace Ellis next year, has all of the tools to become a great SOLB opposite Ware. Big upside in forcing turnovers (14 FF in his college career!)
Rd 4 (#113): Mike Thomas WR Arizona, Hostile will love this pick, and he can be a kick returner too (Thomas, not Hos).
Rd 5 (#148): Emanuel Cook S South Carolina, He drops because of his character concerns, he is a lunch pail guy who can tackle, and isn't soft like our former SS.
Rd 5 (#158): Jasper Brinkley LB South Carolina, He drops because of his struggles with the ACL tear in 2007, and scares some teams off. A bumper who may outplay Bradie once he gets some experience.
Rd 5 (Comp): Domonique Johnson CB/S Jackson State, this year's Scandrick, Johnson has the measurables to become a good CB with coaching or a good FS with some added weight, smooth in coverage, he has plenty of natural ability to even just produce on ST next year.
Rd 6 (#184): Nathan Brown QB Central Arkansas, our new 3rd QB, plain and simple. Has the ability to start down the road, but scouts don't like his height and LOC at UCA.
Rd 6 (Comp): Roy Miller NT Texas, our new backup NT. Miller is squatty and can anchor against a double team, allowing for our LBer's to get to the ball carrier, a true hustle player.
Rd 7 (#193): CJ Davis C/G Pitt, a longtime starter at G at Pitt, then played C to fill in for injuries, can dominate in the running game and is smart enough to make line calls, extremely versatile. I wouldn't complain if we drafted this guy in the 5th or 6th rounds either.
Rd 7 (#210): Reshard Langford S Vanderbilt, I love SEC guys because we all know they can produce. He is a true in the box safety, but he can hit. Which makes him perfect for a backup S spot here as well as a productive ST'er in case Killer leaves.
I see our draft letting it fall to us, similar to last year (aside from the Jenkins trade) and selecting the best players that fit our needs. Grade it, mock it, make fun of it!
