Didn't see this posted from dc.com, so I thought I would for those curious about him.

Seventh-year defensive back Jourdan Lewis, who suffered a Lisfranc injury to his foot in week seven of last season, is progressing through his rehab process, according to head coach Mike McCarthy. While there isn't a timeline for his return from the PUP List, McCarthy did say that there is a plan being worked through by director of rehabilitation Britt Brown.
"Jourdan is really crushing it in the rehab," McCarthy said. "As far as where he is, there's a plan for him. Knowing J-Lew, he'll push it. He's doing really, really well. I know Britt feels really good about the progress he's made the last four or five weeks."
Lewis had only missed three games in his career before missing the final 13 contests last season with the injury. In 2023, he will look to return to make up an improved Cowboys secondary.

Really rooting for him. Not a front line player but knows his craft.

When I read his injury was the worst anyone had every seen I figured his career was over.
Root for him now .. cuz this will be Lewis' last year as a Cowboy,..

I just don't see the club investing another 5 plus million on a limited 5th CB.

And J-Lew is not recapturing the 3rd CB from Bland (unless Daron somehow totally struggles suddenly)
.and the Cowboys seem very high on rookie Scott. who could be the No.2 or 3 next year- depending upon what becomes of
vet starter Gilmore after 2024.

Speaking of Gilmore, we'll have to see how Gilmore's one year deal here works out (will be age 34 next year in 2024)
Frankly if we can keep those top 4 CBs healthy .. i'm not even fretting about J-Lew's foot recovery
but if there is a rash of injuries and Lewis' foot is still not game ready - then CB depth becomes an issue.

Lewis will start the season by staying on PUP. And will miss 6 games, before his practice window opens up. Then I think they have 2 weeks to decide on him, then then 3 weeks to either move him to IR, activate him, or release him.
As of now he really does not have any trade value.
It could be week 11 or 12 before we see him on the field. By then they will know if the players they have is what they want, barring any other injuries.

Just take the money and move on. Makes zero sense to keep him around if he is the team's dime corner.

The cost to keep him vs cut/trade is 5 million.

I think Bland has the starting Nickel CB job locked up.

Will they keep Lewis as a backup at 5M?
Interesting question. Seems to me $5 mil is on the cusp. But championship teams need depth. After what they went through last year losing Brown and Lewis, I think $5 mil for quality depth is not too high a price to pay. If I was Kelvin Joseph I would be keeping an eye on Lewis's timeline because his return could spell Joseph's departure.

Has Anthony Brown signed with anyone yet? I read he was rehabbing as a free agent at Cowboys camp? Sucks for both guys that they may never be the same again. AB was always known as the fastest guy on the team, so maybe he has biggest dropoff coming back from injury?

What lol? He’s a proven veteran CB. If he’s not able to get back to form that’s one thing. But if he’s back to being a capable starter then you 100% keep him on the roster.

If one of your top 3 gets hurt which is highly possible, I don’t feel comfortable with anyone not named Jourdan Lewis stepping in. Bland gets hurt that’s your only true slot CB. An outside guy gets hurt you swap Bland out there and Lewis steps into the slot.

You’d have to have in-game proof that the other CB’s can be relied upon way before you can think of letting him go.

I wouldn't be shocked if he signed after week 1. If not in Dallas, then somewhere else.

The toughest thing for Brown is that the injury happened in December. He won't get back to 100% this year anyway, but being in any type of play shape before October is a tough bet.

Problem with Lewis is he is only a slot corner and doesn’t play on special teams, 5 million for a 4th corner is way too expensive. They are trying to cross train both Muku and Joseph to play multiple spots as a backup and play on special teams

You pay 2/3M more for reliable depth especially a team trying to win a SB. We saw last year how CB depth can derail the team.

They can try to do all they want. But there are no slot CB’s on this roster outside of Lewis who can be trusted. If the young guys can prove so great. But they haven’t so far and I don’t mind one bit paying 5M for one season of security at a crucial position.

He has not. But he’s going to be a great pickup for a playoff run for us or somebody else.

There are reports that Lewis' injury was worse than normal and may not make it back this year.

Either way, the Cowboys are bringing in a former 1st round pick by the Raiders, who was charged with a felony, but has since been cleared. His name is Arnett. That is according to Schefter.

Of they sign him ,they can cut Lewis and use some of that $ on Zack.

I think that's likely. Gives us some cushion in case of injury. If we lose one of the top three, I'm not sure I'm any more comfortable with the depth than I was last year at this point. Scott shows promise, maybe (fingers crossed) Joseph takes a step forward, but those things or any of the other corners stepping up are certainly not a given.
