Teams usually don't keep high paid backups, especially in the salary cap era. They might put him on the short-term injured reserve, but definitely will have a hard decision to make. You pay 2/3M more for reliable depth especially a team trying to win a SB. We saw last year how CB depth can derail the team.
They can try to do all they want. But there are no slot CB’s on this roster outside of Lewis who can be trusted. If the young guys can prove so great. But they haven’t so far and I don’t mind one bit paying 5M for one season of security at a crucial position.
He will stay on PUP. Can’t be on short term IR. They would need to activate him, put him on the initial 53. Then move him to IR.Teams usually don't keep high paid backups, especially in the salary cap era. UPDATE: This joker lied about getting a workout with the Cowboys! There are reports that Lewis' injury was worse than normal and may not make it back this year.
Either way, the Cowboys are bringing in a former 1st round pick by the Raiders, who was charged with a felony, but has since been cleared. His name is Arnett. That is according to Schefter.
Of they sign him ,they can cut Lewis and use some of that $ on Zack.
Isn’t he gone for the season with that designation? He will stay on PUP. Can’t be on short term IR. They would need to activate him, put him on the initial 53. Then move him to IR.
So he stays on PUP, then that is basically like short term IR without using a roster spot and taking a chance of losing A player while they make that move.
No. If on PUP or NFI all through TC. So they start the season on PUP. They must miss the 1st 6 weeks Of the season. It may be 4 weeks.Isn’t he gone for the season with that designation?
If this is the case, probably the most likely outcomeNo. If on PUP or NFI all through TC. So they start the season on PUP. They must miss the 1st 6 weeks Of the season. It may be 4 weeks.
Then the team I believe has two weeks to designate them to practice. I believe it is a 3 week window To actually practice. Unless they changed the rules and timing.
Then they must either move them to the 53 roster, put them on IR, or release them. I guess a trade is always an option until the trade deadline. So they can be on that list from 4 or 6 weeks up to 11 weeks. Then a decision needs to be made.
No way man. Absolutely not the right callJust take the money and move on. Makes zero sense to keep him around if he is the team's dime corner.
Well…we definitely don’t want that…I would imagine it wouldn’t be pretty!if Risen see's this his head gonna explode..lol
The same argument was made about Collins the Tackle, teams don’t keep high paid backupsNo way man. Absolutely not the right call
I didn’t have a problem w that decision. You need depth at cb. He’s way too good not to keep. They will not cut LewisThe same argument was made about Collins the Tackle, teams don’t keep high paid backups
Honesty think that have him on ir and then decide after 6 weeksI didn’t have a problem w that decision. You need depth at cb. He’s way too good not to keep. They will not cut Lewis
Insurance luxury in case of injury.Just take the money and move on. Makes zero sense to keep him around if he is the team's dime corner.
He’s done for. As soon as he can pass his physical, he’s going to be traded or cut. Saves the team around $5m. And I want Bland starting in the slot anyhow.
Can’t have enough quality CBs. I think you need at least 4 that can really play.Really rooting for him. Not a front line player but knows his craft.
When I read his injury was the worst anyone had every seen I figured his career was over.
You can’t do that without an injury settlement I thought? They would have already cut him Post June if that was the thought .
