Man...
JJ is the bomb when carrying the ball...
But it appears to me that he can't catch to save his life.

He cant catch? Let me guess your making this assumption on 1 fricking preseason game.Thats sad

worse yet, he's making the assumption after one pass that was thrown behind him

I saw him drop one pass, that Bledsoe threw under pressure and threw very hard. Yes, he should have caught it, but it was one pass. He'll be fine. :starspin

After just watching it for the 100th time,it was bledsoe who didnt get the ball to JJ,there were atleast 3x's had he it would of been big plays..The one he did drop was a pat-pat i'm getting sacked throw from Bledsoe..

Julius has hands...I have seen them in pictures. :D

Well to be fair, catching the ball has not been Julius' strength. Last year, I thought he was average in that regards. So even tho I wouldn't say he sucks, right now, I will say that's definitely something he should work to improve.

And that's not based on one missed catch in a preseason game.

Actually Qwickdraw is right. Julius dropped a lot of easy passes last year. I love the kid and am thrilled to have a legitimate RB once again but catching the ball as a receiver is not his strong suite. And that assessment goes back to last season not just this one preseason game. I think he will get better at it as time goes on but he really needs to work on it.

Did he drop a lot or did he drop 2-3?

I only saw him drop 1 pass which was a bit behind him, he should have caught it but I don't think 1 drop pass equates into not being able to catch the ball.

LAST YEAR he dropped what I consider a lot of balls. "A lot" being relative to the number of times that they threw to him. It wasn't the number of drops per se; it was the percentage of balls thrown to him that he dropped. And several of them should have been easy catches.

There must be officail stats somewhere that showed how many drops he had last year.

A couple of things to consider about last year.

He was a rookie, he did miss half of the season and he was being run like a work mule.

He did indeed miss some what I consider easy passes last year.

I also think he was working on his catching in the camps.

We will have to wait and see if he has improved but just because of one pass this pre-season let's give the guy some time to see if he has improved or if it will continue to be a problem.

There are not many WR that would have caught that pass from Bledsoe. It was behind him, a fast ball and only about 10 yds away - a really tough catch!

You're kidding me?

Bledsoe checked down his receivers then dumped it off to Jones. That ball hit him RIGHT IN THE HANDS! This "he threw it too hard crap" is kind of lame.

I thought Julius played the whole game like a vet... In other words, like he was going to put out the minimum effort necessary until he could get to the bench. That's not a criticism, just an acknowledgement that Julius is (or thinks he is) to the point that preseason games don't need his full attention. I'm not going to worry about him until the real games start.

Qwickdraw you are correct about JJ. You gotta know that's one area Tuna will be harping on with him.
When the season ended last year he needed to work on catching the ball consistently.

I don't know how many he technically droped, but he does look unfluid out there doing it. As gracefull as he is running hte football, he's tripping over his feet when the ball is in the air.
