he did drop a prolly 40 percent of the passes thrown to him last year... and some of the catches he would make were bobbled like crazy

He did not drop 4 out of 10 balls thrown to him last year. He may have looked awkward catching and bobbled a few but he did not drop that many at all. I think he dropped a couple his first regular game back , but after that he just looked awkward, he did not drop them!

For those of you who understood that I was making a statement about Julius' catching ability based upon 10 plus games that I've watched him in and not one pass in a preseason game... thank you.

To the rest of you, JJ's catching ability has NOT been his strong point. He has dropped many a catchable ball including the one last week that was a good throw, directly in his hands. If you paid attention to such details you might have noticed it as well.

But you comment was he can't catch to save his life and that is not accurate. You would have not had any argument if you said that pass catching was not his strong point!!!!

JJ dropped maybe 5, 6 last year. And he caught a lot more. You are just another hater with an agenda- let me guess, you want Thompson to be the starter?
Pathetic. JJ dropped one pass that was zipped to him and forced him to adjust to it- and you are crying. WAH WAH WAH.

I saw him drop one pass, that Bledsoe threw under pressure and threw very hard. Yes, he should have caught it, but it was one pass. He'll be fine. :starspin

You mean that 6 yard pass that Bledsoe threw at 90 miles an hour at JJ's shoe laces ?

I saw that one too.

But my first thought was not...."man JJ has no hands" :D

I hope you are being facetious because if not that is the biggest leap since Eval Kinival tried to jump the Snake River Canyon. Get a grip; no one has even mentioned Thompson and we don't know if he can catch either. A little accurate criticism does not make someone a hater for God sake. I love Julius as our RB but he still can't catch the ball worth a crap.

That stat means zilch!

Maybe not to you but someone did ask for it and reading this post no one knew the actual stat. But thanks for the reply!

It would seem to me to mean everything in the context of this discussion. Denial does not change the situation and the situation is that Julius isn't a very good receiver AT THIS POINT IN HIS CAREER

Yeah, I think it is quite apparent that the weakest part of Julius's game right now is his receiving ability out of the backfield. He does not look comfortable and is still not proficient at it. That doesn't mean he won't get a lot better at it over time, but right now it needs a lot of work. It shouldn't be that surprising since Notre Dame never utilized Jones as a receiver very much. He only caught 25 passes in his 3-year career at ND and the most in any one season was 10.

That one Saturday night almost resulted in an INT. He definitely needs to work on it and his weakness in that area is a major reason Parcells is looking for a 3rd down back to emerge in camp.

There must be officail stats somewhere that showed how many drops he had last year.

I am sorry but this question was how many drops did he have. If I missed the question of completion percentage tof passes thrown JJ way I am sorry.

You mean that the connection between the two is not obvious? This is a discussion about Julius' ability to catch the ball not about one and only one particular stat. Percentage of balls caught (or dropped) is perfectly valid in a discussion such as this.
