I agree this is lame to say Jones is wearing out the D especially last night when Barber was getting carries in the 1st half of the game and accounted for the 1st TD on the night in the 1st half of action while getting the entire series.
That and the fact that JJ was running the ball I believe 2 out of our last 3 drives and doing zilch, except for running out of bounds.

Edit: I love the fact that right underneath my post, there is a Google ad that says "Clean Texas Police Record: Record Sealing/Expungement No Attorney Required." :laugh2:

I don't want to get on Jones I thought he did a decent job lastnight except for the out of bounds situations but if ones just sits down and watches the games it is not that hard to see which back is creating the spark on this offense and who is picking up the extra yards. It gets old hearing how Barber is taking advantage of the job that was done by Jones because frankly that is not and has not been the case. Fact is Barber is a tougher RB than Jones is and will fight for the yards that Jones can't.

True, if the tired defense theory holds up then Jones should have been off to the races in the 4th quarter.

My disappointments from the Cowboys are JJ, Roy Williams and Carpenter. I will never understand why he was a first round pick.

Barber had 3 first half carries. A 7 yard run on 1st and 25, a -1 yard run and then his 18 yard TD on 4th and 1.

Jones went 11/32 in the first half - 5/32 in the second half.

They both have a job to do and both do that job fairly well. Why can't you be happy with that.

Jones deserves the criticism after his hilarious claims that Parcells turned him into a robot and this season we would see the 'real' JJ. Well Julius, you looked like the same player you always have last night, so much for that.

Well if you wanna give the guy a chance to prove that he's not the Rb that he was when BP was here, then you have to give him more than one game to do it.

I feel confident in basing my opinion off of one game. Same mediocre player he has always been. No moves, no jukes, find the pile and go down.

I'm just curious what the JJ fans really find in his game to rally around?...He doesn't have blazing speed, he's not a cutback runner, he doesn't break tackles and he doesn't run people over...So what exactly does he excel at?...Apart from being an adequate blocker and doesn't fumble often, I can't find much to get excited about with him in there.

Barber is clearly lacking a final gear compare to JJ but does everything else better than JJ so it makes no sense why he isn't getting the ball more.

But in reality, you're not basing it off of one game... If you were truly basing it off of one game, then it would change from week to week. Why did you pick this one game and not, say, the last game he played before this one (in Seattle)?

If you want to say that you think he's the same back, fine, but don't pretend that you're looking at it with the slate wiped clean. You saw some of the same things that he'd shown in the past, so you declare him the same back.

We also have the preseason to look at, FWIW.

I don't think anyone but a select few are just railing on Julius. He's an ok back, and Dallas doesn't want "ok" there. Yeah, I like the balance we have with the two backs. But more could be done with the carries Julius is getting. Even if we get a McFadden, and still split with Marion, the extra talent is invaluable there - even if it's just an extra ypc or so.

Out of curiosity, how many carries did he have in the pre-season?

I agree, he's okay. I'd love to have a gamebreaker like DMac back there.

But I don't like the, "well Julius spoke out and did nothing, so he sucks even more now" faction. He was mediocre in the past, he was mediocre last night. It's like if you hold his robotic statements against him, he really only was setting himself up for failure last night, as nothing less than 120 yards on 16 carries would have satisfied us to say he's no longer a robot. That's unfair IMO.

If that makes any sense??

He talked the talk during the offseason. Worked out on his own, said that Parcells stripped him of his instincts - then comes out and looks exactly the same, only now he's making terrible decisions and going out of bounds with a 3 point lead.

He, Spears and James brought any of this upon themselves. they expressed their disdain for the previous regime, and their delight with the new. And many people decided that was all the asurance they needed that these three players were finally going to perform, and said as much. Out of the outdated scheme with the outdated coach, they were supposed to shine, and they did anything but last night.

So I certainly understand the criticism.

OTOH, guys like Tony Romo kept their mouths shut and just focused on improving THEIR game instead of blaming their ineptitude on cozy little comfort blankets of "scheme" and "robots". I think the difference in performance from these two approaches is clear already.

It's possible Julius is still being de-robotiscized, and that Spears still has lingering scheme-itis - but what you saw last night was just the same old Julius Jones and Marcus Spears. And for all the talking they did in the offseason, IMO - it should have been a noticable difference.

because every carry for julius is one less for barber. IMO julius is not a playmaker and barber is.

Because Barber makes things happen when he is in the game more and more people are questioning why Barber is not getting more of the load considering his production when he is in game. As far as being happy I am but I think as time goes on it will become more and more obviouse that Barber is the better back and deserves more of the load based on his production. I want nothing more than both to do well but a blind man should be able to see the differance in the offense when Marion is in the game.

Now that he's not a robot JJ is able to showcase his terrific instincts by running out of bounds to stop the clock when we have the lead late in the game.

Parcells programmed him to go out of bounds whenever the opponent has 35 points late in a game, figuring we would necessarily be behind on the scoreboard.
