To those who have already foolishly given up on Jones...

I think you'll be regretting it soon.

It pains me to see the love that is being shown to MB3 after only 1 good outing. Whereas JJ earned some stripes with me last year and I am not giving up so easily.
The difference?
Blocking.
JJ has not gotten good blocking this season yet. Wait until he does.
You'll see.

JJ is clearly the best back on the team -- MBIII is a nice backup who can fill in for a couple of games -- but MBIII is not a starting quality RB.

Right now - MBIII is the better back. JJ is not 100%. That much is clear.

JJ is the better back at 100% but the fact is, he might not be the better back at this time .

I wonder if he was hurt before he was "hurt" if ya know what I mean. Oline is blocking just as well as last year, he doesn't look lke the same back as last year. Some defenses been concentrating on him, but not all of them.

I do know what you mean and I have actually thought the same thing. He doesn't want BP to think he's a wuss so he's plays hurt and doesn't tell anyone.

He is not even close to the same back as last year. No spring in his step at all. Reminds me of Emmitt his last couple of years.
Looks like he's running on dead legs.

I really think the bulking up he did is the main problem. He needs to reduce down to get back his flexibility- which is what I think has affected his quickness. The extra lbs he is weighing now just might be part of the problem, too.

JJ better show us something today or he will see limited duty the rest of the season.

You may be on to something. While I know everyone was big on the Julius/Emmitt pic comparisons, Emmitt was a much better inside runner. I was shocked when I saw the numbers for last year. Julius barely averaged anything more than Eddie George on inside runs. It was the outside running where he was the man.

MB3 has had to good outings, not to mention JJs health. Skill wise they are about the same to me, from what I've seen. JJ or MB3, no matter to me!!

...running into the pile with more speed and power than Jones. He moving with more authority.

There's something wrong with Jones this year - you may be right and it's part of the injury, or it may also be the extra bulk.

He's not hitting the holes as fast.

JJ is still not 100%. But he can still get more yds then MB- except at the one.
Use MB as the 3rd down back and the goaline back. AND USE CAMPBELL instead of the D lineman.

Julius didn't have the really big game as I expected but did pretty well. Still doesn't run like he did last year. Looks like we have a 1-2 punch at RB now. As I have said many times before, depth is a good think.

i like julius a lot qwick..........

however, at this time i'm really liking what marion is bringing to the table..

i think i like his ability to pick up the blitz more than anything else.......

JJ does fine at picking up the blitz- BP mentioned that he is the only back that has not blown a pick up this year.

JJ didn't add any weight, just muscle, in fact, he said he dropped a few pounds

the problem is Parcells beating into his head about negative yardage, hitting the hole and don't bounce the football outside, risking a negative play, JJ was most effective last year when he bounced runs outside, it's a good lesson though, he just needs to get used to it and comfortable with it

JJ needs to take more risks and find the holes- no matter what ranting BP does. But that is a tough decision for a young player to make and stick to- BP has really gotten into his head.

What, you what that does to a seocn year player. that puts them on the bench for a guy who will do what BP says. Thats stupid talk, when the hole is there JJ gets big yardage, when it isnt he gets some yardage. I'll take that over barry sanders +15, -5 yards every game.

Problem is that JJ is blindly following the play- not looking for daylight elsewhere- if he does that consistantly, BP will stay off his case.

thats what a RB should do, because if you turn around for the cut back lane, and there a DL looking at you, you just cost the team 2-3 yards, and a very painful experince, sorry i'll take that 1-2 yards, then a chance at neagtive yards.
