Everyone here needs to recognize something.
I am happy to see that Rose Colored glasses Cowboys homers who live in this site realize that simply assembling the best talent doesn't mean jack. There is clearly more to the winning formula than just assembling a Madden team.
But having said that...and just because we have in fact learned our lesson on that, does NOT mean that you stop trying to sign talented players. To use a a justification for not going after a great player in FA, the excuse that "well it has to be about more than talent" is ridiculous. The implication there is that you should NOT sign talented players b/c the grand Jerry Pro Bowler at every position experiment has not in and of itself led to the winning formula.
Sure there has to be more to it than that, but that doesnt mean you still dont need really good individual players. This is the NFL...talent DOES have a lot to do with it. (ask Det coach) You gotta have the horses PLUS all the intangible stuff (like discipline, coach with a backbone, etc.)
So when a stud like Peppers hits the market, sure you wanna grab him We have got NOTHING out of our 3-4 DE's. NOTHING. Imagine having to worry about Peppers at DE and Ware on the same side as OLB. Not sure if we could do it $-wise...but the uncapped yr coming up intrigues me.
