Two trades, two upgrades, one to the offense and one to the defense. The resigning have greatly helped and now we are in the 2nd week of free agency and frankly the picking are slim. We still need help on the D-Line and the O-Line and would be nice to add another LB, CB, and RB for depth purposes.

So Jerry, just one more trade and our defense becomes one of the best if not the best in 2023.

Trade for Quinnen Williams DT from the Jets. He is on the last year of his contract and only 25 years old. A top DT in the league and a cap number just shy of $10 million. So Jets would get a $10 million added to their cap.

Why would the Jets trade him? They are about to take on Aaron Rodgers and his salary in 2023 and will need cap space and draft picks because I'm sure Green Bay isn't giving Rodgers away for nothing. So what about a 2nd or better yet a 3rd or 4th for Williams.

Dallas then could extend Williams and lower his cap number significantly and solve the DT problem for a number of years. The only downsize is Williams is probably going to want somewhere in the $60/$75 million range for 5 years. Should fit great in Quinn's scheme.

Then not to get greedy, but what about Frank Clark on a one year rental. Defense would be absolutely great.

Heck then the draft becomes all about offense.

I could live with that draft then.

This is never going to happen.

I agree with Trading for an upgrade at big man in the middle of the defense....i think this has to be the move. Not loving the FAs. Give me Hankins but we still need a trade.

Nice in theory, but I'm sure it's a lot more likely that the Jets sign Williams to an extension which and backload the cap hit for when Rogers is gone. Also I'm sure teams would be lined up willing to give up 1st round picks for the guy.

So the Jets are looking to go all in with Aaron Rodgers and are going to trade their stud DL?

It’s a nice thought and a position of need, but I think the execution would be impossible. There are far too many issues to deal with for this to happen.

Wonder if there’s a thread on a Jets board suggesting they offer Dallas a 3rd or 4th round pick for Micah Parsons.
Good point, and a 10 mill contract. Williams may come up short when compared to #11 next contract but it want be by a ton.

Jerry does not think DT is an important position.

We just have to accept it.
Question........was our D good enough to win the Super Bowl last season? Maybe hard to answer but what's not hard is it was def good enough to win the 49ers game that has advanced us to the NFCCG game. This was against one of the best if not the best running teams/coaches in the league.

All the talk about needing an elite DT is over the top a bit. The idea is to stop or minimize the run........we did that better last season than some fans/posters wanna admit. Check the stats with 31 other teams, the results may surprise you.

I was not arguing the value of the defense .... I was just stating Jerry Jones's feelings on the DT position.

I think the D played great in the last playoff game ...... It's the QB who pooped the bed (QB is another position that Jerry does not put draft capital in)
