Sometimes it's not the volume of the stats but the timing. I do thin the last year or so has been an improvement over previous years.
I agree ........it may surprise some but our D gave up only 130 total yards more than the Eagles and actually 272 yards less than the Giants they both have elite and/or former 1st rd DTs. As stated before, the idea is controlling and/or stopping the run. No, we don't have a top/elite DT but we still got the job done. We can probably thank Quinn, Wilson, Kearse, and LVE for that............ think it's a coincidence Wilson and LVE resigned? I don't.......

Would i love a Top tier DT? Absolutley... IF we get Hankins back add some depth in the draft and play good defense while keeping pressure on teams with offense then this defense can be top notch as it should be able to feed on teams in passing situations.

I agree. I don't buy into this non sense that Jerry does not think DT is important. As I said Cowboys have poured draft capital at DT.
In the last 30 years since, Jerry Jones ran off Jimmy, they have picked every position in the first round except DT and QB.

Jerry thinks he can go cheap and find a gem in both positions.

Two trades, two upgrades, one to the offense and one to the defense. The resigning have greatly helped and now we are in the 2nd week of free agency and frankly the picking are slim. We still need help on the D-Line and the O-Line and would be nice to add another LB, CB, and RB for depth purposes.

So Jerry, just one more trade and our defense becomes one of the best if not the best in 2023.

Trade for Quinnen Williams DT from the Jets. He is on the last year of his contract and only 25 years old. A top DT in the league and a cap number just shy of $10 million. So Jets would get a $10 million added to their cap.

Why would the Jets trade him? They are about to take on Aaron Rodgers and his salary in 2023 and will need cap space and draft picks because I'm sure Green Bay isn't giving Rodgers away for nothing. So what about a 2nd or better yet a 3rd or 4th for Williams.

Dallas then could extend Williams and lower his cap number significantly and solve the DT problem for a number of years. The only downsize is Williams is probably going to want somewhere in the $60/$75 million range for 5 years. Should fit great in Quinn's scheme.

Then not to get greedy, but what about Frank Clark on a one year rental. Defense would be absolutely great.

Heck then the draft becomes all about offense.

I could live with that draft then.
Clark is a moron.

In 1991 Jimmy Johnson drafted Russell Maryland in the first round to go with our already stellar defense......
We won 3 Superbowl, and after the 3rd Superbowl Jerry let Russell leave in free agency ....... 28 years later, here we are.

In the few years Jimmy Johnson was running our draft he drafted a quarterback and two defensive tackles in the first round
