regardless - got to give him credit for creativity and thoughtfullness. It makes sense for the reasons...but i doubt that NYJ would want to part with him....
Exactly
I don’t see it happening at all. But I like when people propose real options. I hate bashing the front office for not getting a DT without an actual DT they want or a plan to get them
Like the idea or not it is a specific player and a option to get them even if it’s not happening

I think we resign Hank and Pray something comes to us in the draft...Funny thing other teams seem to want thier stud DT's also.

Question........was our D good enough to win the Super Bowl last season? Maybe hard to answer but what's not hard is it was def good enough to win the 49ers game that has advanced us to the NFCCG game. This was against one of the best if not the best running teams/coaches in the league.

All the talk about needing an elite DT is over the top a bit. The idea is to stop or minimize the run........we did that better last season than some fans/posters wanna admit. Check the stats with 31 other teams, the results may surprise you.
I would argue improving the offense is the best way to get to the SB. We certainly didn’t lose to the 49ers because of the D
I’d love a DT who can pressure and play the run well. So would every team in the league that doesn’t have one of the few who actually can do both well

I agree with Trading for an upgrade at big man in the middle of the defense....i think this has to be the move. Not loving the FAs. Give me Hankins but we still need a trade.

Yes, just Hankins only will not work at all.

Jets are trying to win. They arent going to trade one of their best players.

I'd be calling Tampa about Vita Vea
Even if the jets were willing to trade do you give a 1st and 20 mil a year to him. Because that’s what it would likely take
Vea is a guy I love but they just extended him so not sure he’d be availible
One thing I like about Vea is his best season came after his extension lol
Most are before

I don't think it will happen, but it's not crazy.

Jeffery Simmons is another guy that might make sense to go after. Similar situation, but I think the Jets are in more win-now mode than the Titans.

Derrick Brown has 2 years left on his deal, but Carolina might want some draft capital.

All in all, we'd have to probably give up more than a simple 1st rounder for any of these three guys.

What if we could get another CB for it though?

The Jets GM is the opposite of Jerry. He would have asked for 3 firsts to part with Amari Cooper last year. He's not giving anyone away. They usually just leave when they become free agents because they are tired of playing for a franchise that hasn't won since the Namath years.

Sometimes it's not the volume of the stats but the timing. I do thin the last year or so has been an improvement over previous years.

Jerry does not think DT is an important position.

We just have to accept it.
Since 2019 Cowboys spent a #1 on Hill, 2020 Gallimore in the 3rd and in 2021 Osa and Golston 3rd. The notion that Jerry does not think it is important? that is a lot of draft capital to use on a position that they feel important.

Do not trade away any more draft capital.
They now have 1 pick in each round. Use them wisely.

I rather they bring in one of the vet DT's at a lower cap hit, and draft a DT. Williams will want a huge payday come 2024.

Hill was a 2nd round pick, which they could have got in the 3rd.

Your are probably right. Though they may not want to pay him 20 mil either
But the pick or picks aside the cost is gonna be huge at a time we are about to have to pay many other guys. Aaron Donaldson can impact a game enough to justify that money but he’s a rare case. It’s hard to justify 20 mil for a DT unless he stuffs the run and/ or can get you double digit sacks. Payne is a great player but he got paid for his sack totals last year and that’s the only time he’s ever done double digit sacks. Mighty risky

Maybe so but Cowboys felt the position needed help and reached. I have no issue with anyone saying Cowboys missed and reached for a player but if Jerry felt the position was so unimportant he the Cowboys would not have taken the chance on Hill

I think they see the importance but they are really hard to get. A really good DT who can impact both the run and pass game are like getting a top 15 QB, they are really hard unless you are sitting in the top 5-10 spots of the draft and get lucky

It was a definite reach at #2. I think more fans would have accepted it if a 3rd round pick. At last from the reactions at the time he was drafted. Most would have been ok at a #4.
