Just back from the game; observations from Seattle

One of my proudest moments as a Cowboys fan (and that's saying alot having gone to all the Super Bowls in the 90s). Here are my observations:

The defensive backs were amazing. There was so little room for Wilson to throw. I was shaking my head that this is the same personnel (absent one glaring CB) as last year.

The DL had a great game, not so much rushing, but containing Wilson. He did not have lanes to run because the DL was disciplined. And they played the read option very well. Man, Marinelli has done an amazing job this year. Who hired Monte Kiffen as DC over this guy 2 years ago?

Rolando McClain, next to Demarco, is this team's MVP. And that is saying alot given how the O Line is playing. In person, he looks amazingly bigger than any other LB. And it shows in how physical he is at the point of attack. Not to mention his game saving pick. I have been uber critical of JJ as a GM, but this is one of his biggest hits.

The O-line was dominant, as was obvious from the rushing stats. But even more, when the momentum shifted and it looked like we might fold as we've done before, they protected Romo in the 4th and continued to open holes (even after made a great halftime adjustment to shut down the run).

Escobar needs to play more. He is a matchup problem.

Dunbar needs to play more. He is a matchup problem.

Sterling Moore is really good. His play on the deep pass to Kearse was amazing.

The fans at Century Link were livid with the refereeing. Hard for me to tell without watching the video, but we did seem to benefit from a number of calls, especially the tripping call on Sherman. But the more aggressive team usually gets the calls.

Century Link is the best place in America to watch an NFL football game, bar none. It is a college atmosphere. And having been to Dallas last year, I am embarrassed by our home field disadvantage. Maybe the bandwagon fans will jump back on now that we are 5-1, but it is night and day.

That is all fans... Happy to answer questions.

That is what I'm saying... Seems like people who actually live in the Metroplex are more to sell their game ticket than support their team. Hopefully we have a home field advantage against the gnats.

The calls were pretty equally bad. About 20% of there offense was on one blatant pick play. Their line was holding and so was ours. The trip on Sherman wasn't a good call, but then again neither was the lack of a call on Romo getting spiked on the ground after he had given up on a play. The delay of game on Williams was probably technically right while never being something that's called. Personally I'd say neither team got a major advantage from the terrible reffing job today.

I love reports from the games - thank you. Just out of curiosity - how were you treated by the fans there, before, during and after?

Fans were great. I've been to Philly away games, so I've learned my lesson to pick my spots to yell. But there were tons of fans walking around with Dallas jerseys after the game, and didnt see any of them getting harassed.

I was at Seattle Center with family and a friend visiting out of town who just happened to want together during the game. I savored the Seattle fans following the game on tvs at the good court going dead quiet the last few minutes of the game after their boisterous outbursts when they took the lead. We haven't had a quality win like this in years. Felt very good.

I have been to games there as well and experience was the same. Great atmosphere, Seattle is one of my favorite cities. Seafood is even better than San Francisco, not even close.

Not to mention the mugging that Dez Bryant had to endure all afternoon from Sherman. I've never seen a DB get away with so many tugs, grabs, pulls, and holds. Are the refs afraid to flag him because the 'best CB in the NFL' will have egg on his face? Or is it because were they to flag him within the rules then Seattle would draw a penalty every play? Hey, too bad. Don't break the rules, you hump!

This was my experience as well. It's not a surprise it's such a tough place for visiting teams to play when you see how involved the crowd is. I know the Dallas home crowd thing has been beat to death, but it's true, at least in my 5-6 visits to Texas Stadium.

That's the Seattle MO. Carroll I swear teaches keep at the illegal stuff, the refs don't have to will or the ability to make this game a 4+ hour flag fest. The problem is the SOB is right. The Refs aren't going to call a hold, grab or tug on every play.

Alot of us felt Dallas became a better defensive team after Mo injury. The lack of a pass rushing specialist actually helped Dallas in this game as pocket stayed encapsulated. Thanks for recap always great to hear fans perspective at games.

Yeah the refereeing was bad all around.

I
How was Carr?
Carr did not stand out, so that's a good thing I suppose. O Scan and Moore seemed to be targeted more and made plays on the ball and tackled well. What surprised me the most was that we played 1 high safety most of the game and press on the receivers, and Wilson did not take many deeps shots, especially with Harvin.
