Uhh because he's the best running back in this decade.
Uhh, the tangible on-field difference is so negligible that you'd be paying a lot more for similar production. Plus the headache.

Not worth it at all.

Too pricey for a team that still has a bunch of holes to fill. I honestly think Murray will be allowed to test the market before he comes back to Dallas realizing that the list of teams looking to pay an injury prone RB getting near 30 a lot of money is really short

He'll be 27 once FA beings.

8 million a year? the franchise tag is not going down to speak of. even if AP is suspended for the entire year his contract is still in effect and will count

If his price is significantly higher than Murray's then I would agree with you, but if it is around the same price, Peterson, all day.

no no no no no.
This team has major holes on the DL, save the money for there.
Draft a rb in round 2/3 if you have.
Having said that if he wants ben tate money then go ahead and sign him but 3 years max term.

Nah, franchise Ro McClain - if he finishes the final 14 games strong. That way we get to lease his services another year with an option to buy long-term.

The LB franchise tag will be really high because of the guys like DeMarcus Ware, Aldon Smith, etc. who are edge rushers. I wish they had a franchise tag for 4-3 LB's and 3-4 LB's separately, but they don't. It would be way, WAY too high for McClain. Plus, IMO you don't want to give him a big chunk of guaranteed money like that. High incentives and low signing bonus is the way I'd go.

I agree it would be nice to get him for 1 more year like that before you make a longer term commitment... but the franchise tag just wouldn't be good.

I think he will probably sign for short term, like maybe 2 years with a lot of incentives. It is understandable. That would have him hitting free agency at about 27 or 28 with 3 good years (including the current season) in a row where he didn't quit. If he proves himself over 3 years... that would be a really big payday for McClain. Good for Dallas too because we'd have him for 3 years on an incentive laden contract where we would only pay for production.

I'd say the past 10 years, so from 2004.

You honestly think this?

The guy has one good season (2013) under his belt.

Basically any player with a better single season in that time should be up for discussion if you're going to base it one a single year. Not to mention a number of guys who has many more better years than Murray's best so far.

I love the guy but come on. Best RB over the last 10 years when he hasn't even played a full 16 game season?

What? Maybe you were confused about who I was talking about, I was talking about Peterson not Murray.
