Just how cheap the Cowboys have been in free agency over the last decade

Their FA strategy affects how they approach the draft. They absolutely must draft for need, and while they got away with it for a while, it’ll eventually catch up.

We are about there.

I do realize you have to pay attention to position to a point in the FA era, but essentially forcing yourself into certain spots means you’re bound to leave better players on the board.

Being hell-bent on getting a CB in 21 and a TE in 23 made them force the Joseph and Schoonmaker picks.

The Cowboys are just playing money ball in free agency. Stephen was inspired by the movie, sets a strict budget to spend and tells McClay and the analytics department to find them players at a JAG cost that can play snaps for us.

Look Forward not back. It's not a productive thing to keep beating a dead Jerry argh horse. ;)

Yeah, I don’t think I’ve ever witnessed a team who mainly utilizes free agency to bring in players for depth only to support current starters. There isn’t a true competition unless a draft pick or UDFA makes a splash. Goes back to the FO’s term of “we like our guys” and understand they really mean that. Still don’t know why they cleared all that space to only go this route in free agency
