Just How Good Will Villiami Fehoko Be?

The knock on him is his weight, not size per se, because he can bulk up his overall weight. But the guy has a serious motor, and head for the game. I watch him play and I see a player who may be as good of a prospect as Mazi Smith when it's all said and done. His so-called "pedigree" is also impressive since his cousin is Vita Vea. He has some serious burst off the line, and quick feet, which should serve him well in DQ's defense.

Anyone else think we may have gotten a high-caliber player with this pick?

I do - in fact, if he can live up to the "hype", I see he and Sam Williams as the future @ DE:
RDE - Williams
LDE - Fehoko (sliding down to 3T on passing downs)

On paper, the 'Boys have a LOT of pieces to be a multiple look D (3-4/4-3).

I see the same thing the Cowboys see with him. He has enough quickness and bend to get around the edge, and he's also stout enough to play in the middle at times. During the draft, he was actually my favorite pick. I also like Schoonmaker and Vaughn. I don't think Vaughn will have much trouble making the team due to his receiving abilities.

I believe Fehoko can make an impact this year. He's got the heart and desire, apparently, too.

Huh? Based on what? 6'4", 282 (at his Pro Day), 33" arms, 4.7 40 w/ a motor that doesn't quit? What are you talking about?
That's his opinion. Nothing wrong with seeing things differently.

Fringe roster player. Doesn't have the body to be anything special.
Limitation is only 'opportunity' on the carpet. In season, if he turns up three or more highlight plays...his opportunity will greatly increase. Time on carpet limits him now. He is very talented and bears watching. No time, no chance.

I watched a little video of him. I'm, by no means great at assessing line play (I'm more of a RB guy) but he looks like he's got a lot of potential, with the skills to make a few plays his rookie season.

I think his best position might be 3-technique, but for that he needs to bulk up and perhaps be a good back up to OSA. despite the motor, not sure if he is athletic enough to play DE. good motor or not.

He's either an undersized DT or a heavy DE. There are 0 impact players with this body type. 33" arms isn't significant, 4.7 is irrelevant (especially from a pro day) and every DL who makes an NFL roster has a motor, it's irrelevant. His ceiling is basically Tyrone Crawford.

'I believe Fehoko can make an impact this year. He's got the heart and desire, apparently, too.'

He has to pick up NFL level strength as well as actual traits to dominate a very experienced offensive line talent through the league.
With that, his game speeds up considerable as does his value.

I like his habits, heart, and that he is a 'football' player.

I didn’t know much ab the kid, but i hope your enthusiasm for him is correct.

Im typically optimistic, but it’ll be hard to crack the roster as it stands currently. Not to mention, statistically speaking, DE’s tend to take awhile to develop unless of course they’re 1st rd talent. That said, Dorrance Armstrong was a 4th rd pick and has contributed, albeit it took 5 years to pay off.

I was hoping Dal would double dip and grab another LB, another island kid, Noel Sewell. But hey, I trust Dan Quinn will get the most out of this kid. Unfortunately, he hasn’t tasted upper competition, so this will be an uphill battle for him to say the least.

I will say, those Polynesian kids play with a ton of heart. So if he plays well during camp, maybe he has a chance to push someone off the roster next season.

His challenge is both bulking up in weight ..and being converted inside the interior as a 3 tech. That's just not a guarantee.
That's Low risk - High reward as it's just a mid round draft pick.

His weight is not a problem as a DE - he was a college DE at 275lbs.
If he was to play DE at the NFL level,.. 275 would be idea prototype size for a DE.

And he may add weight,, but will he play to that weight ?
Will he play bigger and stronger than what his size suggest ?

Someone may be weight room strong and can bench press the world... but will they play like they are that strong on the actual playing field ?
They can look like Tarzan in workouts .... but yet they play like Jane on the actual playing field.

- When I see Fehoko's game tape - I don't see the first step burst off the line that you're implying. I see a guy that relies rmore on his very active, busy hands, shoulder/hip leverage
and relentless work to get his tackles/sacks for losses production at the college level.

- Apparently McClay and Quinn think they can have a player that is too slow for DE at NFL level, but if he were to get bigger, may be perfect inside where he does not have
to quicker path to the action inside. Who knows, he may be a Tyrone Crawford rotation type tweener .. or even better, a Michael Bennett type tweener. .

- And you have to be careful and cautious about certain " highlight" reels off per YouTubes ... it's a reason why they call them " highlights" .
They are aimed, edited and intended to make players look good and impressive.

I think this is what happened to Noah Brown. Used sparingly...he just couldn't develop that ...fight...that aggressive "it"...the only the truly gifted players automatically have. I think Bease developed it...he got PT.

So "bubble players" definitely have to get reps...and they have to make some plays when they do...to KEEP those reps and keep developing.

Yeah I see him as somewhat limited by athleticism but a real hard worker, leave it all on the field player who also plays smart.
The guy I think of is Dat. Fehoko isn’t undersized like Dat was but both were a bit limited athletically but Dat’s hard work and very intelligent play made him into a quality NFL player who made a lot of good plays in his career. That’s kinda how I see Fehokos potential

Aaron Donald is under 6-1 and was 285 at the combine. He's got one of the worst body types and is the most impact DT this decade.
