Just How Good Will Villiami Fehoko Be?

He has the exact same size as Michael Bennett. Hopefully he came become half of what that guy did, and I'm pretty sure he was a late round draft pick too because of his 'tweener' size.

Bennett wasn't even drafted. Originally signed with Seahawks but released and finished his rookie contract with the Bucs and then went back to Seahawks and had a nice career.

The knock on him is his weight, not size per se, because he can bulk up his overall weight. But the guy has a serious motor, and head for the game. I watch him play and I see a player who may be as good of a prospect as Mazi Smith when it's all said and done. His so-called "pedigree" is also impressive since his cousin is Vita Vea. He has some serious burst off the line, and quick feet, which should serve him well in DQ's defense.

Anyone else think we may have gotten a high-caliber player with this pick?
Very little impact, if any this year. Work on his body and get adjusted to top level pro competition. Hopefully he can do something in year #2.

Quinn is drafting him for that 3T Golston tweener role. Fehoko is a brawler against the run, although light in the pants for brawling NFL guards. I think they want him to be a sturdier version of Osa and Golston.

IMO, there were better directions to go in the 4th round. Osa and Golston are both pretty low-impact players... okay for 3rd rounders, but definitely no home runs. And both are very good athletes for their size. Sticking a very average athlete in that role... man. I don't see it working out.

When you break it down, Fehoko's floor is the XFL and his ceiling is like a Justin Hamilton, 20 snaps a game backup DT. That doesn't measure out to a 4th round pick. I would have taken him like 6th round or 7th.

Ceiling is Justin Hamilton? A UDFA journeyman who ran a 5.1? What the heck are you smoking?

Dan Quinn has earned the benefit of the doubt but I'm not seeing a lot of twitch/explosiveness from him.

I saw a guy who beat up on bad comp and disappeared from time to time.

Hey look! It's another Pass2Run thread celebrating an undrafted player or late draft pick where P2R tells us what an elite motor, and heart the guy has...what an immediate impact he'll be... all from watching a two minute Youtube video.

I think his best position might be 3-technique, but for that he needs to bulk up and perhaps be a good back up to OSA. despite the motor, not sure if he is athletic enough to play DE. good motor or not.
He will have to pass up Sam for playing time, but probably a red shirt for Fehoko, Gallimore and Golston will have a battle behind Osa.
Can Fehoko be a 3 tech, only if you red shirt him for a year IMHO.

If he is a solid rotational piece on the DL. I’ll be happy.

I think his ceiling is a Tyrone Crawford type player. Which again would be great.

I think his niche is pass-rushing interior linemen. He could overcome his speed limitations as an end, but his speed is fine on the interior, where his size is the issue. His motor could help him overcome all the obstacles, which are the reasons he wasn't drafted high. There have been "slow" ends who had great drive and know-how and succeeded and there have been small DTs who understood how to escape blocks or use leverage to overcome their challenges. The deck is stacked against him from a physical standpoint, but players who work hard and have a good football IQ sometimes restack the deck.

MOVE ON from this bust and give REAL playing time to the draft pick and UDFA WR's....but don't hold your breath. Fehoko will make the team because they will force the ball to him in the pre-season enough to try and validate him stealing a roster spot.

I csnt say I disagree. His thing is his motor.and drive. He does need a year of experience and seasoning

There’s good and bad here

The bad: He (1) needs to evolve into what the cowboys want AND (2) evolve NFL strength. I believe the Cowboys see him as a rushing DT and possibly run stuffing DE for obvious situations like that (goal line or late game when behind). Also, like most DTs, he needs a couple years to get strong.

The good: I believe he has the motivation, genetics, and intelligence to do both of those things well. He already put on weight going into his pro day. He also has that incredible islander heritage body type (please don’t take that the wrong way) where he has a ton of room to stack muscle on muscle, but somehow still be quick as a cat.

This year I expect him to be rotational behind Osa and maybe some at DE on obvious run defense. I expect him to have some flash but also have the same rookie struggles we see in almost all DTs.

2 years from now….look out man. He might be an absolute steal or at least a very solid rotational guy.

Special teams/ project player. Will need at least a year or even two to know whether he’s worth keeping or not. I like his college skill set but he is raw.

The 2023 draft class was weak across the board.

There's gonna be a lot of 3rd, 4th and 5th round picks around the league that don't amount to anything. And more busts at the top of the draft than usual.

30-40% chance Fehoko makes the roster, IMO. Maybe he can develop on practice squad or Cowboys find a way to stash him with a fake injury.

With Quinn we'll get a good look at him.
I'll say it again, this may be the most exciting Cowboys defense in 30 years.

The nfl people said this was "shallow" at the top of the draft but strong between the late first in to the middle rounds. The strength is due to covid and giving players another year.

You need to keep your Fehokos in order.
