McDaniels is a good young coach and he's going to fit well with Cutler.

But I thought they were going to look for a Defensive guy.

Maybe McDaniels takes someone from the Pats staff for his DC.
No need. He can just grab Romeo Crennel.

McDaniel is light years ahead of Garrett in terms of coaching. At least he can take advantage of the underneath, while teams defend Moss over the top. Garrett on the other hand has all his WRs running deep.

I think this is one of the plum jobs in the NFL personally. They have fantastic fans, a home field advantage (elevation above sea level plus cold) that few can overcome, and a good organization.

McDaniel is a smart kid. I think this was a great hire.

They are one of the better organizations. If he's the real deal they could be set for a long time.

Garrett made no sense this year. Not only does he tend to abandon the run too often but he also goes for the long ball too much. You can actually have a ball control passing attack, with 8-12 yard passes and keeping the chains moving. Instead we get a slew of low percentage deep balls or a check down to the back in the flat. The few exceptions may be Witten across the middle.

They, like the Steelers, hire young and commit to that young hire long term. I bet he will win some Lombardi trophies for them. He has a great pedigree in coaching under Hoodie. People may hate the Hoodie, but he is a great coach.

I think he'll be good for them. I also wouldn't be surprised if he brings in Capers as his DC.

I wouldn't either, or Crennel for that matter.

McDANIELS WANTS McDERMOTT

Posted by Mike Florio on January 11, 2009, 9:46 p.m.

One of the burning questions for Broncos fans in the wake of the news that Pats offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels will replace Mike Shanahan as head coach is this: “Hey, we thought it was our defense that sucked?”

Though owner Pat Bowlen opted not to hire a defensive-minded coach to beef up a unit that has underachieved for years, McDaniels plans to address that side of the ball by pursuing Eagles secondary coach Sean McDermott as the team’s next defensive coordinator.

McDermott’s name surfaced recently as a surprise candidate for the vacant defensive coordinator position in Green Bay.

But Mort points out that McDermott remains under contract for another year, which means that the Eagles can block him from leaving for anything other than a head-coaching job.

Moreover, the fact that the Eagles are still playing games makes McDermott completely off limits, possibly through February 1.

If Garrett ends up not getting picked up Jerry should really make a move and make him HC.. Geez... The prospect of another year under Wade is really depressing.

That's what I figure. There is no reason to wait if you think he's the guy.

I wonder if that sunk him?

I bet it played a role.
It was by design. He is interviewing to keep Jerrry honest, but he knows it's his gig in 2010 if the Boys fall flat, again.
