I can't see Miami passing on McFadden. Ricky Williams is gone. Ronnie Brown is coming off a serious injury, maybe career threatening, and won't be ready to start the season. Miami needs a name to draw the fans to the stadium.

Yeah if I'm Miami right now I'm not giving up McFadden for anything in the world except for a large number of mid to high draft picks.

Either way, for a team facing 0-16, Miami should have high hopes for the future (no pun intended) with Williams in their back pocket and McFadden closing in fast.

They play it smart, they could have half a dozen new picks AND a featured back in either guy (I still think Williams has gas in the tank).

Hasn't Welker already signed an extension?

As far as Asante, he's probably as good as gone. Moss probably would take a discount to stay with the Pats - they win, he puts up big numbers, and seems to like being on that collection of ------- called the Patriots.

Moss will be a fool to take a pay-cut coming off an all world season. This is probably his last big pay day, you can bet the farm he's going to try and get top $$$.

I don't know about that. If all he cared about was money, he wouldn't have waived his no trade clause to leave the Raiders (and the huge $$$ they owed him) and taken the pay cut to join the Patriots. I think the Patriots will at least make a fair offer, and I don't see Moss placing himself in another bad franchise just to get the biggest paycheck after what he experienced in Oakland.

The Dolphins will make the pick that most helps their team. What the Patriots do with the pick right after should be completely irrelevant.

I agree and disagree.

First, yes, a team will make a pick/move/trade/etc. that most helps its team.

Part of helping your team is not hurting it by helping a divisional rival get a blue chipper that will bedevil you twice a year. So, at least in the Dolls' case, giving the Pats and McFadden a chance to run all over them twice a year does not make sense. I bet if they had their druthers, they'd rather offer up a McFadden to someone in the NFC.

Having said dat, I guess the Dolls would be hard-pressed to forgo a one-two battering ram of Brown-McFadden.

So I disagee.

Our two #1's and Carp and Spears and one of our 3 young tackles. The combination of picks and bodies that can help right away could do the trick.

Strip the cupboard on an unknown rookie that has almost limitless potential is dumb especially if there are guys almost as talented that can be gotten for cheaper. 1st RD RBs are almost as big a gamble as 1st rd QBs and OTs

I was thinking that they probably are interested in getting McFadden after watching the Ravens/Pats game

not that I 100% believe that this rumor is true, but I wouldn't put it past them

think Cam Cameron will goof up again and give up #1 for a mid and late 1st round pick, plus some others? *crosses fingers*

how could belicheat be frustrated with maroney? he only gets 5 carries a game cause the pats go 5 wide 90% of the time.

Exactly. I was thinking the same thing. "Umm, Lawrence, when I hand you the ball, I expect you to break the run like Barry Sanders. A ten-yard gain is unexceptable. Go sit with Cassel on the bench."

I agree. I'd love to have McFadden, but I don't want to sell the farm to get him. The patriots and eagles (at least in recent years) have had great teams because they work the draft better than anyone else. How did the Saints do after trading all their draft picks away for Ricky Williams? And this year's draft is going to be a deep with 1st rd running backs. I wouldn't be surprised to see us trade our 1st rd pick away to get a 2nd rd and another 1st next year, i.e. what the Pats do. The best thing we can do is draft better depth that can take over for players when their contracts are up or if they get injured.

As long as we're not drafting "backups" like we did once upon a time I'm fine.

I agree with you that this draft seems deep with quality RBs. I think we can land a very good one with one of our 1st rounders.

I think we can do very well with a M. Lynch (Bills rookie) quality RB on our roster. Sure, a A Peterson is better than Lynch, but Lynch can still get you a lot of yards and get the job done very well.

With the other 1st rounder, let's see what we do. Maybe a good player slips to end of the 1st round and we get lucky . . . . It's happened before.
