i can understand if the original poster didn't know it was pre-excused. but when finding that out it's usually a good idea to back off and let that non-existing bullet go or you just look agenda driven.

if im not mistaken when marcus spears was on, maybe theebs or hostile can put up the podcast, but spears was saying something like after asked about how the cowboys are really hungry

spears said something like yes, we all are, then he caught himself and said somehting like most of us are real hungry and we want to go further and we know what we have to do to get back to the playoffs to being better, etc

i think when spears caught himself, he was including roy williams being one of the players that didnt really care about beign in playoffs and not being really hungry to win in the playoffs etc

i think the missing OTAs right after the 2 coaches had to sit down with roy after he bashed the fans, and his missing the 2 OTAs, but not he will miss OTAs this week and maybe OTAs next week

now he is going on vacation, get fat and lazy again, then he will try to go on a crash diet again, but not be in football shape,

i dont see how anyone can defend him now,

that to me is saying i dont have to work out,

im a special player, i dont need to work hard, im all pro roy williams,

every other player though can work out, but you need to specialilze plays for me to excel, and forget about winning, compromise yourself, im suppose to make big plays period, forget the winning and playoff games,

id rather attend charity events and parties;

no its not rumor posting, it was stated on today by todd archer that roy williams missed OTAs today on the david smoak sports talk that roy missed OTAs today because he scheduled a vacation this week, not sure how long his vacation is

as far as missing 2 previous OTAs, all i know is, it was brought up that he did miss 2 previous OTAs because he attended his charity events, and roy best to my knowledge apologized for that;

i dont know what 2 OTAs he missed but he did miss 2, even jenn floyd engel of star telegraph touched on this subject when he missed the 2 OTAs, because he was at a charity function

jenn said basically something like this, romo has functions that he goes too, but he attends all meetings, and then some, but romo does football first

its like jenn said, roy willliams has this money now to do functions because of what he does play for the cowboys, but he should take football first, that it was all nice what he was doing for single moms etc, but football should come first

what im saying if this is all true, and it has been posted and documented, about roy, to me, he is coming up with excuse after excuse for not working out and missing OTAs,

thats what I am saying, to me, he puts his charity stuff, life before football, football second, and it shows in the way he works out,

we all know last year, to get in shape he had to do a diet weight program to get in shape, and thats not football shape either, and his play to my thinking suffered,

i just find it really sad when roy has already missed 2 OTAs, and now he schedules his vacation during OTAs, that to me doesnt sound good and like your heart is in football,

Today was the first day of organized team activities, and as Albert talked about here, making a big deal about who isn't around is not going to run this blog.

As expected Ken Hamlin was not in attendance but he wasn't expected to be there. And Roy Williams is on a vacation with his family, which if you're an avid reader of this blog, you already knew about that from Calvin back on Mother's Day.

Several players talked about liking what they saw, including newly re-signed Terence Newman, who said, "We've got a lot of talent on both sides of the ball," following the first workout of the year that had offensive and defensive players working against each other.

im kinda half and half, i loved roy when we drafted him and he was playing alongside darren woodson;

but the more and more i read, and its just not one source but multiple media sources, that the cowboys have to beg roy to come in and work out;

you shouldnt have to ask that of your star player, period

i honestly wished that he would get his act in gear, really look at himself, and bust his butt to be the player he was the first couple of years

but if not, i look at it this way; and i believe this; the good Lord like he says;
he builds principalaties, powers, kingdoms, dynasties, maybe he knows if we need Roy or not,

let the Lord work it out, he knows best and go from there,

but it sure does bother me when a safety says its hard to cover wrs and te's,, but your being paid mega bucks to work out, stay in shape, care about your teammates, be a leader, at 6.75 million in contract this year best i remember, but he says things like that, its hard to cover,

but seems like he doesnt think he has to work out and study, i have a problem with that, to me, i look at it this way

roy said he had dreamed of his life to always be a dallas cowboy;

so, a player should want to be the best, how do you be the best, you work out, stay in tip top shape, study film, practice late, helping your teammates too,

thats what i have a problem with roy, does he have desire and heart to be the best anymore? i just dont know, but doesnt seem like he doesnt, i dont mind if he proves me wrong, thats ok, ive been wrong before,

whatever it would take for roy to get his gear in motion, then do it, but if he doesnt want to, then something is wrong,

He needs to get the facts straight.

Roy didn't miss any OTA's last week.

He missed two team meetings. Then Ellis made his comments. Then Roy had the meeting with Stew and Maxie where it was ok'd(basically) for him to miss these voluntary OTA's to go on vacation because they were scheduled a while ago.

It's not like he just didn't show up today, he wasn't expected to be in attendance.

Joe, I know you are a diehard, but you should calm down if you aren't completely sure of what's going on. I am on my last nerve with Roy and now you have me coming to his defense here, lol.

Last week several articles mentioned he had been excused from them because of another commitment, I believe to his charitable organization or a family vacation.

The key word is "excused." Meaning he didn't just not show up. He informed the team and they were okay with it.

i decided to go back and look and see if the refuting of the "missed the OTAs" would make the poster back off his "roy sucks because he did xyz" and then it's proven he's wrong. nope. he just continues the stupidity.

When the time comes where we are winning playoff games and SB's then maybe it will not be as big of a deal to me but as long as this team continues to fall short I do expect these players to do any and everything in their power to improve.

It's not "Roy bashing" , it's just expecting a player who recently got a big payday , struggled with his play last season , and recently went through a controversy questioning his commitment to the team to actually show up for work outs . Voluntary...please , as a veteran player and supposed leader , you should be there . Exactly. I like having Roy Williams and not once have I said he should be released or traded. Right now I do expect all players under contract to be at every single scheduled team workout be it voluntary or mandatory.

Jerry pays his players very well and this is part of their job but more important is doing whatever it takes to get to that next level and right now this team has not shown that and until they do I as a fan expect every able body player to make every effort to be at all of these workouts.

If coaches did not think any of this was important they would not be holding these workouts

doomsday those are my sentiments exactly, each year, even when parcells was here, we would like get to 2 playoffs with parcells and we got to one with phillips last year, but it seems like we are always flat etc in december;

to me, roy should be a leader set an example for the team, take those little extra things you have to do in offseason, workouts, even during season of studying film, spur your teammates on, if we know like say roy works hard, studies, but gets beat now and then, thats ok, roy would get it next time, or interception or big sack or fumble,

we just want you to be at your best roy, thats all that we ask, let the chips fall where they may, but leave no stone unturned roy;

its like the great herb adderly cb and charles haley when they came to the cowboys, they said they would show the cowboys why they had been losing, not winning the big game, what it takes, even troy aikman said, when charles got here, we then understood what it took to be a champion, he showed us,

thats what were expecting from you roy, do your very best, show everyone that your are the best strong safety in the NFL, but you have to study, work and practice, it just doesnt come to you roy, you have to work at it,

I'm with you . I'd be just as upset if it was P. Crayton or B. James . I understand he's on a vacation that was cleared by the coaches , but it would be like your boss coming to you and telling you that your company would be working on a big project in a couple of months and you scheduling a vacation for that very time . You just wouldn't do it , so why should he ?
