You mean Santa and the Easter Bunny are not real? No doubt we are neck deep in trouble. And i hope the players feel the same way and play with some urgency. But sitting at 2-5 we shouldnt even be in the running. It is what it is. We are in the same position as we were last week. Last week we were 1.5 games out and we lost and are still 1.5 games out. Considering we are another week closer to a Romo return gives me optimism.

Optimism? Allow me the opportunity to slap that optimism back to reality. The more games we lose without Romo, the less room for error Romo will have once he gets back... at our current rate, Romo will have no room for error. Even if Romo plays perfect, that doesn't take into account the fumbles our other players are prone to committing. And as we were reminded again on Sunday, the refs errors tend to not go in our favor. Are you "optimistic" all that will change once Romo is back? Romo gives us a chance but after all the loses, and continued errors and bad refs, that chance is miniscule. Time is running out.

Not a fan in general of positions that tell other fans what the thresh hold is for being fans of the Dallas Cowboys. Positive or not.

That said, we're still not at a point where we have to be abandoning hope for a postseason. It's also not necessarily the case that, even if we could qualify, we wouldn't be able to beat anybody.

And as big as next week is--and it's huge--it won't be the case after next week, either. I don't even care if we're 2-7 and have to run the table. I still think the team is capable of doing that with Romo back if we get on a roll. It might not be very likely, but it'd still be possible.

You guys falling all over yourselves to call the season over after we lost to the Giants should have seen how quickly that can turn out not to be the case. There's still a lot of football left to play, even if we're running quickly out of margin. We've seen this team win with very little margin before. Put Romo back in the lineup, and we're head an shoulders better than the rest of the East in my opinion, and it's really not that close.

Anything can happen and beating Philly keeps us alive. It's doable since Philly's offense has been pegged by us. With their east to west running Sean Lee will have a big game. Bradford will meet Hardy, McClain and Gregory(hopefully with more naps due to injury).

I for one will be called a homer on here and I'm cool with that. That's me, others will have their objections to that and I have no problems ever debating with anyone on here.

I think it's fun to have these debates as long as we can be civil. This season has been rough the last month and a half and nothing like beating Philly will inject some much needed hope into our team.

Until then season is far from over and let's just stay tuned to see how it all unfolds.

Of course im still optimistic. Allow me to slap my optimisim back into realiity. The more games the Giants and Eagles lose while Romo is out, the better our chances are for Romo to have a chance to come back and save the season. Isnt that what we as Cowboy fans want?? The both had a chance to run away with the divison and have failed. Sure each Cowboy lose leave less and less room for error by Romo or anyone else. Thats a no brainer. But all the Doom and Gloom by those already giving up on the season when were a game and a half behind the lead (and 2-1 in the division) is a bit premature. Sure, Nobodys happy with 5 losses in a row, and sure nobody expected Romo to be out 8 game. But the season is far from over so buck up and take your heart meds......were in for a ride.

We match up very favorably with the Eagles.....
Of course that doesn't account for bad/conservative coaching, their Dline is a concern as well.

Eagles are going to kick the Cowboy's butts in Jerryworld but you are still going to insist our season is not over.

Yeah, Cox and Curry can be a problem and Free vs Barwin will be one to watch. I want to see Collins matched up on Cox. That guy is a beast and can tear through any Oline.

I too am a Homer. Im a life long Cowboy fan and long time season ticket holder who lives in New Mexico and travels often to see my team. Im interested to hear from those who think this season is over to tell me who they think will win the divison and why. the Giants and that Defense who we handed both games too. The Eagles? The Commanders? Sorry....This Homer is banking on a win this weekend against the Eagles that will put some much heeded life into Cowboy Nation (at 3-1 in the division) and tear the Hearts out of the Eagles who will be 1-3 in the division. And yes, ill be there in Jerrys World rooting My Boys on LIVE! Go Cowboys!

Are we starting a campaign to take the word 'homer' back? In principle, I'm all for it. In practice, campaigns to take words back aren't really my bag. But, yeah, I don't mind getting called a homer as long as I'm right and the people calling me a homer can be proven wrong. :) Civilly, of course.

That's fine if you're saying it as a figure of speech.

True, although either Jones or Church should have intercepted that ball that Wilson lofted up in the air. The secondary just cannot play the ball very well in the air.

So in your mind when someone, who is speaking about sports, says they're scared or not you wonder if they're actually frightened? That's a stupid thought.

Yep you're allowed to post whatever you want and feel however you want. My point was don't get heated over the negative people. Not saying you really were but you get my point. I enjoy reading both viewpoints actually cause I can see it from both sides. I know if I get negative it's because I don't want to get my hopes up for possible disappointment. It's easier to be negative sometimes.

Exactly. It is easier to be negative. Most of the negative posters don't like to admit that. The truth hurts their feelings.

Yes, technically, the season isn't over until mathematically you are eliminated, but common sense often has to prevail here. Technically the Titans aren't out of it but even in that crud division, they have no shot to make the postseason.

This team cannot continue to lose games and just assume that it's OK because once Romo comes back, we won't lose another game.

At the bare minimum, they have to win one of the next two.

This is a key difference to past seasons that came down to the last week to see if we will make the playoffs. If we make it this year like that we can and I believe will be favored in our first two games at least.
In years past we weren't because we weren't very good.
Now we can possibly be a complete team with top players at many spots on O and a very good top 10 D.

Sounds reasonable.

I actually think that they have to win the next two to feel real confident about winning the division. 3-6 is a lot more murky but doable.

2-7.......... forget it. Look forward to the draft.

Here is the only fact that counts. Dallas is 2-5. There are no moral victories. There is no upside. We are 2 and 5 not an imaginary 7-0.
