Justin Beiber says "I think I was detrimental to my own career"

Justin Timberlake puts on an entertaining concert. He doesn't have the greatest voice in the world but he can dance & he's versatile. And he actually sings live!

Yeah. His voice isn't great, but he's not afraid to reinvent himself and branch out. He kind of stays ahead of the times a little... grows up with his music a little as well. That's just how I see it.

I respect him.

I agree. Beiber was a boy wonder. If he remained the boy next door, he would've become irrelevant in a year or two. Becoming the public enemy is probably adding a decade or so to his fame as the male version of Lindsay Lohan.

And I agree about Timberlake. I was in middle school when N'Sync came out and I didn't think they would last. Then Timberlake transitioned into a solo artist and I didn't think he would last either. Then he become versatile musically and started getting into hip hop and pop. I'm definitely not a fan of his music, but I have to give him credit for his acting ability. Very surprised to see how natural of an actor he is. Kinda reminds me of a young Will Smith or Mark Wahlberg. I can see him becoming a respected actor (by the academy) in a decade.

Same here. I don't really remember how old I was when Nsync formed, but I remember being in middle school or early high school when they really blew up. I was anti everything involving him.

But he just seems like a cool dude. I even like some of his music now-- don't know what kind of music you like but if you ever get a chance, check out Only When I Walk Away. Kind of a blues-y hip hop sound.

He wasn't that great of an actor at first, but he's really come on strong in newer roles. He's definitely not the famous artist that got pushed on to the big screen to sell tickets anymore.

Or at least I think so. I know very little about acting.

He really is very good in concert. Great dancer. He has changed with the times.

Justin Bieber would be smart to follow JT's career. Definitely that guy needs to grow up. He's a brat.

Let me clarify. Our opinions don't determine the talent. The peers do.

What classifies people as peers, though?

Not trying to muddle up your case, because at first I found myself agreeing with you. But are his peers famous artists or musicians of all levels that understand music?

We all know that the best music doesn't always sell. Bruno Mars is more talented than Bieber, but was in the shadows for the longest time writing songs for others because the label didn't think he was marketable.

Nahmean?

See the bold text below.

Yeah. I think she is just trying to hard to shed her Disney image.

She's shredding that image into little bitty pieces. She's nasty. I think a lot of it is a need to be in the news all the time but seriously that tongue thing she does is gross!

Those are saved for musicians only.

Actually, it's not, which a few people have pointed out here but I do believe that you may have a point on Bieber's entrance to the 27 club. It says it's a club for POPULAR Musicians.

I'm not sure that fits this kid anymore.

Well guys, everybody has their own opinions of what is talent and that's OK. However, just so we know and understand exactly who and what we are comparing here:

Good stuff, .. I like them both, .. not sure what that says about my tastes.

I feel like Dolly Parton is very, very underrated as a performer, simply because of her physical appearance. A much better singer and entertainer then she's given credit for. That's kind of the thing that irritates me about Cyrus. She has talent. She is a pretty decent vocalist but she's cheapening it by what she is now doing as a performer. I hate that she does this. Beiber, I don't care much about. To me, that guy is what he is and that's that. Hairdo will eventually burn himself out but Cyrus, she could be more. I wished she would grow up a little bit and pay more head to her long term career. That's just my opinion though.

Yes, popular musicians club.

"The 27 Club is a group of popular musicians who died at age 27, often as a result of drug and alcohol abuse, or other violent means such as homicide or suicide. The number of musicians who have died at this age and the circumstances of many of those deaths have given rise to the idea that premature deaths at this age are unusually common."
