With the news that Jaylon may have to play with the brace, should we take a flyer on Durant? At times he flashed last season, still. He's a leader but not an every down player anymore.

Maybe a one year deal, 1.5m w incentives?

I know it's horrible that we consider these aging vets, but with the mantra of "not being big spenders" would y'all be oposed to this signing, with the caveat that he passes a physical?

He's 31.

I'd have to think he's seriously considering retirement.

I could see him as a week 2 signing, if he still is unsigned and still wants to play

I'm not sure. He flashed a few times, but he's clearly on the decline. I think he would be a desperation signing if Smith proves unable to go. Otherwise, we'll stick with what we've got — Lee, Smith, Wilson, Hitchens, Wilbur (special teams) and Nzeocha. I wouldn't be surprised if we grab a second-day LB to compete with Wilbur and Nzeocha, though.

I would love to see Nacho get some real playing time this upcoming season. He showed up on the screen, both in preseason and the regular season, in the very limited snaps he got.

Strictly my opinion but besides Lee, we are weak at LB
  • Hitchens - jag. I don't believe he will be extended after his rookie contract is up
  • Wilson - same as Hitchens but less reliable
  • Smith - with today's report...idk what to expect from him
The rest are special team guys..people like nacho, and I'd like to see what he can do

Yes. Like with some other players, I don't know if he's going to be able to build on that, but fortunately, we're not having to rely on him becoming great because he's fifth or sixth in line right now. It would just be a big bonus if he does.

I also was pleased with how Wilson progressed.

Don't sleep on Wilson. He's much more athletic than Hitchens and was coming on at the end of the year. I could see him passing up Hitchens this year and becoming a play maker.

Durant can provide depth, but draft a LB if there, try to sign a low tier FA if possible. But still bring Durant into TC if needed.
Wilson was playing decent by the end of the year, and Nzeocha, not sure what happened. But I think he can earn some playing time too.
Hitchins is serviceable and can contribute. But he's better suited as a backup and occasional starter if need be. A situational player.

All this of course depends on Smoth and his playing time, and his health of course.

But still draft a LB regardless. Like CB's can never have enough.

wouldnt than he would become a progress stopper for all our up and coming talent?

Durant is still pretty good and he plays with veteran savy...

At some point though Hitchens needs to step up and be the player we drafted him to be which is a young Justin Durant.

Durant is a very nice vet. He's never been "the guy" but for him to have stuck around so long shows his work ethic and consistency.
