Justin Herbert: QB Oregon. 6'6" 234 lbs. Projected 40: 4.70

Justin is an athletic man with a big arm. Dual threat QB who is comfortable in the pocket, has shown the ability to throw the accurate ball while under pressure. He is one of the most accurate QBs on the run I have ever seen, he has demonstrated a unique ability to pass while on the run to the left or right, across his body, and know when to pull the ball down and take it himself.

If you watch his tape you might find yourself thinking of Aaron Rodgers the way he can sling the ball to any point on the field. He has one of the most accurate long balls in the NCAA and better yet there isn't a window he cant squeeze a ball into. His anticipation on first and second reads, as well as sheer ball velocity combine for an amazing range. He has shown everything needed at the next level. Timing, touch, anticipation, and accuracy. Mix that with his size and athleticism and you have a QB made in a lab for today's NFL. He does need a bit of polish on finishing out his reads, and reading defenses before the snap, but he has shown glimpses of both through the still young 2018 season. Both of these problems are common among NCAA QBs anyways and are easy to correct at the next level.

Mechanically he is sound, he has a great release point, solid footwork, and gets the ball out fast. His stance can get a bit wide on some throws, but its a rare occurrence. He is my #1 QB in this draft, and would be my #1 QB in the past 3 draft classes. And I would have a hard time not ranking him higher than Goff and Wentz out of college due to his sheer natural ability. He is bigger than Wentz, has a better deep ball than Wentz, and is a far better athlete.
His tape speaks for itself. There is nothing this man cant do at the QB position, and if I were the GM, I would be looking hard at Herbert to be our future at the position.

@4:42 Is my favorite pass. High, tight RIGHT where only his man can get it. And Brooks-James is 5'9". Imagine that being 6'1" Gallup. This kid is special

Unless this season goes sideways, we ain’t sniffing this talent.
i dont know about that. This QB class is pretty stacked. Who is 1-5? Lock, Herbert, Stidham, Grier, Finley?

I think Herb may fall just because of the depth of the class. Lets say we do the Garrett special and go 8-8. I say were picking around 14, and I would say One of him of Lock will be there.

Herbert is most likely the first QB taken.

I think Herbert winds up top of the class and possible #1 overall

If we move on from Garrett, we likely move on from Dak and will probably be picking a QB in the first. The downside is we are likely surrendering alot of draft capital to do that. But really, you have to be willing to do that. The upside is, Dak would be very tradeble amd you would likely be able to get a day 2 pick for him (Tyrod Taylor went for a 3rd)

Agreed, when going after a franchise QB you have to be prepared to pay up if the opportunity presents itself. We need a QB that can throw the hell out of the ball up and down the field. I'm done with bus drivers.

He is the only 1st Round QB in 2019 Class. So there will be a massive run for him. No way we are picking #1 Overall.

And depending on how the top 10 picks line up youre looking at QBs falling. If we think we are anywhere from 6-10 to 9-7 thats picking between 7-14. What are those players looking like?

No particular order:
Bosa DE
Oliver DT
Ferrell DE
Gary DT
Baker CB
Brown WR
White LB
Lawrence DT
Jones DT
Williams CB
Davis DT
Lock QB
Herbert QB
Grier QB
Trey Adams OT
Josh Allen LB
Williams OT
Love RB

So now how does the draft stack up?

Bills - QB Josh Allen
Raiders - Carr (2 picks)
Cards - Rosen
Colts - Luck
Lions - Stafford
Browns - Baker
Seahawks - Wilson
Jets - Darnold
49ers - Jimmy G
Commanders - Smith
Giants - Eli. Could take a QB.
Dolphins - Maybe take a qb? Too many holes to guess
Bucs - Winston. Maybe take a QB to move on.
Bengals - Dalton
Chargers - Rivers (Could i guess?)
Panthers - Cam
Titans - Mariota
Ravens - Flacco and Jackson
Broncos - QB needed
Cowboys - QB needed

Where in that field of teams do we fall? Because if we are worse than the Giants I feel pretty comfortable that we are first in line for Herbert barring a trade up situation.

Yes, we are stuck with Dak for a few more years.

The way this is playing out with Dak, Cheap Stephen will not extend him (rightfully so) and let Dak play out the 4th year out his contract for $720,000.

2020 is the year they'd move on.

But the big thing they will do if they want to move on in 2020 is draft someone now that can learn the system for a year before having to step in. They think they can contend, why would they want a rookie at the helm that year?

I know Herbert is your guy, and you can end up being right about him, but for me, this is a very weak QB class.

Also, the draft is loaded at D Line and it may not seem like it right now, but next year, D Line could be a very big need for us.Lawrence and Irving are free agents. Who knows what we have in Gregory. The Front Office missed on Ealy and Ward. That leaves us with an overpaid Crawford, Taco, and a bunch of unknowns.
