Kaep might not be worse than Manning last year, interesting move. Clearly Elway is operating under a tight window assumption. Must have really been put off by RG3 to make two trades for average at best QBs.

Kap's contract was just guaranteed Thursday. No reason to take a pay cut. SF can pay some of it if they want to ship him to DEN.

Depends how bad he wants out of SF. Also, he is pretty much guaranteed a SB at Denver

SF is 54m under the cap.....If they want the pick they can pay for it and send some money......If Kap takes them to the SB then he deserves 15m a year......

Or maybe trading in FRONT of us.....

This. I can see San Fran going up to #1 if they want Wentz. Or to #3 if Wentz goes at #2 and they believe Dallas wants a QB.

This trade opens up a lot of draft day possibilities. Does Dallas now consider moving up to #1 for Wentz to ensure they land a QB?

Exactly. If I was Kap I would tell both teams I am not taken a pay cut. He did it when he signed the contract so the Niners could keep some of their players and they didn't. Loyalty screwed Kap.

Why do that, when they can trade with Dallas and pay a bit cheaper?

The scenario I suggested is if San Francisco believes Dallas wants a QB at #4. If Dallas wants Goff then the 9ers would need to jump Dallas if they want Goff too. That also assumes Wentz is taken at #2 by the Browns.

Agreed, but why not come shopping where the price is lower, instead? Kind of dumb jumping ahead when they can just replace Dallas in the picking scheme, with a lower price.

Dallas would sell the pick to SF way before they'd give up all of this and some of next year's draft to move up to 1st overall

A LOT cheaper...true. The gap between 4th and 1st is huge.
But if it's Wentz they want, and not Goff, they may need to move ahead of Cleveland.

In any case, this does two things for Dallas
1) Possibly increases the value of 4th overall...or at least adds another team in striking range that wants a QB
2) possibly takes Denver out using their 1st on Lynch at 31 or in a small trade up

I sure hope that's the case. They would be throwing away 2016 and 2017 seasons making a move for Wentz.

If Wentz/Goff goes to Cleveland and the other goes to SF at 3, this place might explode.

I know it would be tough for me to take. But I could deal with it better knowing that Dallas didn't have the chance to draft either one, rather than being idiots and passing or trading the pick to someone else so they could draft the quarterback.

It's one thing to be a have not at quarterback because you weren't in position to get one. It's quite another to have had the opportunity and blown it yourself.
