I follow the draft pretty closely and before last year Kai Forbath was considered a 4th round pick. Maybe higher. He was supposed to be one of the best kickers to come out in some time. Then his production dropped off last year before the draft after 3 very good years. Does anyone know why he didn't do as well last year?

However, if there is a truly outstanding kicker prospect available teams shouldn’t be afraid to go in that direction. When it comes to the 2011 NFL Draft, there is actually a kicker who I feel might qualify as that type of special prospect and it’s UCLA’s Kai Forbath. In my opinion Forbath is the best kicker prospect to come along since Colorado’s Mason Crosby in 2007, who I had graded as a third rounder that year. Crosby inexplicably slipped to Round 6 but I feel vindicated because he turned out to be a real steal for the Green Bay Packers. Now Forbath certainly isn’t close to being on the same level as Janikowski was coming out of college but I think a team could potentially justify calling his name as early as the 3rd Round next April.
