Sunday was a brutal way to end the team’s playoff hopes and a painful loss, but sometimes lightning strikes. When Dan Bailey misses two FG’s you know that the game is snakebit.

I know people need to vent but Dez is going to have a ball punched out of his hands once every five years. If that doesn’t happen, we are up 9 – 0 or 13 – 0 and win going away. Dak has thrown one really bad pass for a Pick Six in his career and it was in this game. Otherwise we go up 12 – 7 even with the Dez play.

Stupid mistakes hurt also, Swaim’s crackback block was idiotic and kept us from going up 10 – 0.

So the downside is that this game was insanely painful. The upside is our defense played well even with no interior pass rush. The rookie DBs continue to play very well and we have bookend Corners set for years to come.

Taco Carlton has come a long way and will be even better next year (and will be a starter). He had a sack in this game and was held several times (without calls) or would have had more. He also made a tackle on the sideline on a WR screen that most DE’s don’t make. If he wasn’t playing a QB as mobile as Wilson he would have had even better stats.

Some random notes –

Ho hum, Sean Lee had another 400 tackles in this game.

Dak Prescott can take a hit as well as anyone and doesn’t get credit for it. He took a helmet to helmet hit in the first half and got up to wink at the defender.

DLaw’s 22 yard sack of a highly mobile QB is a perfect example of why he will get a monster contract from Dallas – and deserve it.

Playing without David Irving is a big loss for this team and we had no interior pass rush – and we still held the Seahawks to 136 yards of offense.

We didn’t lose this game because of bad calls, but… there were bad calls. The biggest play of the game was the 3rd down completion to Baldwin where Taco was held. Even Aikman commented on it. The endzone PI call on Awuzie was offensive PI and the endzone PI call on Lewis was PI, but could easily have been called an uncatchable ball. The holding call on Witten in the Red Zone was a complete joke.

Russell Wilson is the enemy but I love the guy.

We desperately need to upgrade the Swing Tackle spot in the offseason, Byron Bell is a big liability. Swing tackle and WR are the only gaping holes to fill so I really see Dallas overpaying for a veteran OT who can fill the swing tackle spot for a year or two. Then our draft goes something like 1 - WR, 2 - WLB, 3 - OT, 4 - DT.

Goose said on the radio that a month ago the #1 need was at LB. Now, it's at WR. This depresses me. Most of our cap is already dedicated to the offense and so
are most of our premium draft picks. I hate that Marinelli continually has to deal with the scraps.

I am pleased with how the defense is turning out. Draft and a FA or two and that unit will be the strength of the team. It is pretty sad when our offense needs some major re-tooling.

Get a DT, safety and a LB and it can only get better. This is a bad season to be needing to draft some offensive players because the defense is almost there.

If you had a Calvin Ridley on this team or even a healthy Allen Robinson the team season would have gone entirely differently. Or if they had been willing to give Alshon Jeffrey a multiyear deal.

I think they will be fine at LB with a high draft pick being groomed behind Sean Lee. They will add some veteran Justin Durant types as well and IMO they definitely resign Hitchens. Jaylon Smith will be significantly better next year because he should be 100% healthy and have more experience.

They definitely make moves at LB, but I think there is more to work with there than people think.

We beat ourselves...plain and simple. To lose to a team that had more penalty yards than yards total...is just unforgivable. We were not ready to play...just like the Green Bay playoff game last year. The bigger the game...the tighter this team plays. It's a Garrett trait. and we make mistakes that we can't over come.

I know I've seen enough to know Garrett is not the answer....

Oh, another terrible cap analysis. Good job!

BTW, to the original post Dallas is going to have at least 20 Million to spend in Free Agency. If a top WR is available Dallas will pursue them and they will be able to fill positions like LB and Swing Tackle by overpaying a veteran to serve as a backup.

And after a seasons like this one, Jerry likes to make a big splashy move regardless.

Seattle had 142 yards in penalties and a 136 yards in total offense. So in reality they had -6 yards for the game and we still got beat by 9 points! Hasn't happened in a game since the 60's!

Let that sink in folks........

Seattle has one of the worst Olines in football.

Snakebit has become a very familiar term to describe Cowboys' meltdowns in key games....

I will never forgive Garrett and company for two straight passes on first and goal from the two. When Ezekiel Elliott is on the field.

It is unforgivable.

The first play from the 3 was an option run by Dak that gained two yards, which is probably the same as a Zeke run. The next play from the 1 was incomplete the refs made a horrible call of holding on Witten to push the team back 10 yards. Then they had to throw. It wasn't three shots from the one yard line.

That's exactly my point of the thread. You had two completely fluke plays that rarely happen in one game. Even if you had one but not both Dallas wins.

Piss poor horrendous playcalling.

The first play shouldn’t even be an RPO.

It should be hand it to Zeke 3 straight times.

Again, horrible, stupid, idiotic playcalling.

Zeke is our best player. He converts short yardage plays as good as anybody in the league.

He should be the only option on both of those plays.

I guess I don't understand the point. Yeah, IF they don't happen, but they did. Dak urinated all over himself, the WRs no showed, and JG is still an idiot.

Disagree, early in the season teams completely keyed on Zeke like the KC game where they held him to 93 yards on 27 carries. You have to have some variety or NFL defenses can shut anyone down. And the 3rd play of that drive was 3rd and 11, which is a standard passing down. Zeke didn't have a run longer than 9 yards in that entire game.

So "This is fine" is the status of your bet that Dallas would lose its last five games, right? How is that working out for you?

You tell me? What did winning these meaningless games do for the team?

Give them a much worse draft pick?

Keep safe coaches that don't deserve it?

Give the owner more excuses to keep this lame status quo?

Let's face facts, the one game that mattered against a team that might go to the playoffs was yet another failing embarrassment.
