The big story is Dak obviously, you can’t bring out anointing oil after one preseason game – but what isn’t to like? He made all the throws, played with poise, showed pocket presence and mobility. He moved the team down the field and scored consistently and showed what is probably the best thing you can say about a rookie QB:

He didn’t look like a rookie.

Too early to draw definitive conclusions but even as a rookie he looked better than the hasbeen veterans we would have to overpay to bring in.

I still like Showers and see him on the 53, I made the comparison to a good backup like Tony Banks before. Adbutcher said Dak reminded him of Steve McNair, which is prescient coming before this game.

Swaim and WR Andy Jones dropped passes but I give them a break because its their first real NFL game. I think the WR competition goes down to the last minute before they decide who makes the roster.

I like Nzeocha but he still has a long way to go. That said, he could definitely push Gachkar off the roster and fill the same role as a ST demon who backs up the Mike spot.

I think the young DL looked fine but I consider Ryan Russell the backup LDE and not a starter. After this game I could really see them moving DLaw to RDE permanently with Mayowa backing him, with Irving starting at LDE.

Goodbye JJ Wilcox, The Landry Rule still stands. I definitely think Frazier takes his spot.

Olatoye looked very good in limited reps, I have to think he is the 4th CB. Jerimiah McKinnon looks good IMO, he didn’t make a lot of plays but I bet he grades out well.

I can't see Butler and Whitehead not making this team. Only way A. Jones has a chance is if they keep 6 WRs and if he keeps dropping balls we'll have no problem getting him on the practice squad.

I'd love to see Jones on the Practice Squad, he clearly needs the development time. If our PS is guys like him, Gathers, Deon King, Shaneil Jenkins, Rodney Coe, Jeremiah McKinnon and a couple of others it would be fantastic.

Liked everything but Frazier comment. JJ is bad, but still better than Frazier. Frazier is PS bound if he doesn't show much much better.

Still think Brown has the inside track on the #4th. Played pretty well when he was out there

How about him locking onto WRs? I'm putting money on it right now he throws a couple picks based off what he put on film tonight...Teams are gonna see...he doesn't look off...and safeties are gonna jump his down field throws. Tell you right now...It's coming. And It's coming in bunches.

People on the Dak train are in for a rude awakening......

I agree with this. Russell did not look like a LDE to me at all. I think Irving has the tools to be a very solid LDE, he just needs to learn the position.

I know you're a Kellen guy...but go watch again. Maybe you need to review what pump fakes are and ball velocity is...since Kellen has neither lol

I don't know if JJ is better or not. He still has zero understanding of tackling angles and that rookie TE for LA made him look like a chump a few times.
However, I share your feelings about Frazier. Very disappointed. That weak shoulder dive attempt at a tackle on a TD run was such a letdown.
Hopefully, he will show much improvement next week after seeing film.

Well the 5 locks are Bryant, TWill, Beasley, Butler, and Lucky. Don't see how Andy Jones moves ahead of Lucky, with what his speed brings (as we saw last nite). Only way Jones make it is if we keep 6. Just don't see with needs at other positions.

You mean like the rude awakening we had with Kellen Moore last year against the Jets and Bills and how he ended the season with a QB rating of 19? o_O

As Moore has shown, but not in your eyes.

This is probably correct, if I had to guess.
