Earl Thomas is the engine that makes that whole defense run. That isn't to say that Kam, Sherman, Wagner, etc aren't good players. They are fantastic. But I've come to the conclusion that there are two ways to build a defense that can dominate. The first is to have a great pass rush. The second is to have a great FS.

Bonus if you can do both. But the FS is to the secondary what the 3tech DT is to the 4-3 under.

And its the most talent depleted position in the NFL. There just aren't very many good ones, or even decent for that matter.

It's an incredibly hard position to play, and with the value placed on cornerback it has not been developed at all levels. But it's probably the only non-DL position on defense that can so positively impact an entire defense.

Earl Thomas is in a league of his own imo. Dude is a freak. I wanted him so bad when he came out of Texas. That guy will never be traded anytime soon, but if he was I would give the world for him. Lol
