Kazee question

Legal hit, in fact, that video should be used in the entire NFL on how to legally hit in today’s NFL. Sadly, it won’t be, they don’t want those kind of hits in today’s NFL.
I say no fine, but Goodall’s got a god complex going on. They could see it another way.

Doesn't the launching himself also need to include a helmet to helmet hit or is just launching at a guy and slamming into his shoulder a penalty? Seems like the kind of play you see every week in the NFL.
The only part close to a penalty was launching, but that in itself is not a penalty. You are right.

My bad. It was the Parsons hit-missed tackle that cost us 15 yac (no penalty), which was also the hit Moore said hurt in his post-game interview.

The Kazee hit was def legal.

I mean, the commentators have access to replay to discuss calls....why shouldn't the refs to get it right?

Now I'll offer an opinion.....ever notice that when a team is down 2-3 scores the benefit of the doubt on iffy calls miraculously goes their way?

It's about keeping control and keeping TV sets on.

I really wish that the refs just do their job. It should not matter who wins or who loses. We were getting held all day long and refs weren't calling it. Then when bogus penalty against Kazee happened and changed the complexity of the game, the game was ruined.

I think people on sides would appreciate it more if the refs just do their jobs and let these teams play. They would make the game so much better to watch.

Has the NFL fines been announced? Is he going to get fined for a clean hit and playing good (great?) defense on the hit on Tremble?

I know y'all want to see it again so here it is. (I turned the sound of as it was nails on a blackboard quality)

Multiple angles . Enjoy:

WHACK!

No fines just another NFL office apology that we screwed you once again, and sorry that it led to the Panthers scoring a TD on that drive.

It happens a lot, and I dont just mean in our games.

It's noticeable, and I'm not complaining.

But why in the world would you not have an official that has access to the same replays fans and commentators do to get it right??

There's a reason for it and I wish much more would be made of it.

It isn't because its squashed. The league wants a certain control of games....and I'm very not much into conspiracy theory.

Well, it is possible to tackle with the face mask up, rather than down with the crown of the helmet leading the way. That's the goal of the rule. But, again, since he didn't actually hit the receiver with the crown of his helmet it doesn't matter. No foul.
I agree he does not meet the launching part of the rule either.

Yes I totally agree with you. I think giving a ref in the booth will just make it a lot harder to control the game as they see fit.

That's why they hire old men with less than 20/20 vision. They know they can always blame the refs when public opinion goes against the NFL for a bad call.

Not even sure why that was called since he didn't lead with the helmet and didn't target the guys head.

as speed of the game is too overwhelming to officials, i think plays such as this should be subject to instant replay review

... i really hope they change the rues and make it instant replay reviewable ... o_O

  1. illegally launching into a defenseless opponent. It is an illegal launch if a player (i) leaves both feet prior to contact to spring forward and upward into his opponent, and (ii) uses any part of his helmet to initiate forcible contact against any part of his opponent’s body. (This does not apply to contact against a runner, unless the runner is still considered to be a defenseless player, as defined in Article 7.)
Don't know how he could get fined watching the replay according to the rules

Defenseless player if he is hit with leading helmet hit in the act of catching when he cant defend him. This was from the side and shoulder to shoulder not into the torso. This should have been never a penalty and hope the NFL realizes and does not fine him . Player / Team should appeal

When is anyone going to understand that old men chasing around elite athletes aren't going to get every call right?

This could be EASILY fixed with an additional ref next to a monitor full time, but the league refuses.

I won't give my opinion as to why, but they could get these things correct if they so choose.

They could also train the refs to see the game in unison. There are so many subjective calls I know it won't be perfect, but the variance from different crews is ridiculous. They should all basically call games the same.

Is that a bit sarcastic? I can't tell.

All I'm saying is to use the same technology to get it right as fans/commentators do to criticize in the first place.

No sir, I freaking mean it. It's bs watching some crews who let em play and some who call everything. Then you turn around and watch the same crew flip flop right in the middle of the game. All I ask is for some consistency.

Wasn't that many years ago that that was great football.

I wonder what the game is becoming when you're not allowed to hit the guy *carrying the ball* too hard.

The KFL - Kayfabe Football League.

I would look into quietly bringing back Kazee, Kearse, Hooker and Neal on 3-4 year team friendly contracts in the upcoming weeks.
