CB- Carr, mo, Oscan, Webb, Mitchell

S- church, jj, Hamilton, Heath, Dixon.

Seems 1 too many. I guess Webb and Heath are the most likely to go

I would hope it is one too many. Dixon probably made the squad and it is up to Heath/Hamilton for the last spot. If we keep five safeties out of a bad group, it is a little odd.

As bad as the DL is, we will probably have to keep an extra player there since we will be carrying Lawrence on the roster.

This isn't a play-off team so you keep your best players regardless of position, I don't think 10 DBs fits.

All of these safeties seem like in-the-box safeties to me. Which one is going to help with pass defense?

We'll keep 5 or 6 DBs and probably 4 S. We generally don't go over 10 DBs with 9 being more the norm. It's not out of the question esp if the 10th player can play the SPs and STs.

If any position needs extra players its the Dline.

I think Webb needs to play way better and fins a niche in the return game to outplay moore. I don't know what the coaches have against moore, but he played like our best 3rd cb last year

CBs Mo/Carr/Scan/Mitchell
S Wilcox/Church/Dixon/Hamilton

Probably one more will make the team. Maybe Moore.

Barring injury

Carr, OScan, MoClai at CBs
Church, Wilcox at Safeties

Is not a bad secondary. Seriously. I still wish we had a bal-hawking FS.

True. And I know this is said a lot, but these DB's will look better this year if the D line can generate some type of respectable pass rush.

Depending on how much Wilcox and Claiborne improve this year vs last year, we could end up pleasantly surprised.

You may be right. I'm not proposing a 10th DB but keeping a guy who you think can develop while playing some SPs and STs is not out of the question. It'd be better than keeping a camp body for depth IMO. We can find a vet that is serviceable as a 1 if we have to.....probably.

I am happy with what we got in the secondary and hope they stay healthy.

The Jets got hit hard at the CB position today. Milliner couldn't put any weight on his foot and they lost CB McDougle (3rd rd pick) to an ALC tear. They have Dimitri Patterson who is also hurt right now and then Kyle Wilson, Darrin Walls and Ellis Lankster. I'd be tempted right about now to shop Webb around and see if the Jets were willing to give up say, a LB or DL. I'd shop Sterling Moore too if he wasn't banged up. I think we (and the Jets) saw what was available in the CB market with whoever those two CBs were that we trotted out there against SD. Not much at all.

With our DL needs and Jets corner need, instead of trading for backups why not trade for starters - Coples for Claiborne straight up. If one ends up starting and other doesn't this season then a conditional pick on top. If one makes pro bowl then that pick becomes first day pick.

My friend, I think you are correct. I'm thinking that the team protects it's interest for this season, at both the defensive line and the defensive secondary.

Interesting. Bust for bust. I like it.

Although I do not think the Jets have Coples' replacement on the roster. They lost Cunningham to injury and if they deal Coples, that means they start Jason Babin.

Plus, I think the Cowboys are nowhere near close to giving up on Claiborne. He still has more excuses to run through.

CB: Carr, Claiborne, Scandrick, Moore, Webb

FS: Wilcox, Hamilton

SS: Church, Dixon

I don't think Heath makes the roster. Not unless we only carry 2 QBs and go really short on the OL. We're probably keeping Randle and R. Williams at RB, so another position is going to have to go short. My guess is OL if we want to keep 10 DBs.

Bottom line is that at CB, Moore has played in real NFL games and played well. Mitchell will make it to the PS. Despite taking poor angles on Thursday, Webb's coverage was sound, so that's encouraging. Just need him to be a little more physical at the point of attack and not just physical on the jam and then afraid to hit. He didn't even turn Woodhead or slow him down on that one catch and run...gotta at least make him slow up to get the Safeties and Backers to come clean up the play.
