He is highest paid Center in NFL and right now is the weak link on that offensive line. He is main reason Zeke keeps running into wall at LOS. There is still time for situation to improve but if by end of year he has not progressed, I don't see how Dallas can keep him as highest paid C in football. He is essentially a shell of his former self. Two options would be he agrees to pay cut (ie Doug Fee) or Dallas attempts to trade him.

It takes time to recover from Guillain-Barre Syndrome. Anyone expecting him to return to All Pro form this year was expecting too much. However, a full recovery is likely.

idk if we are playing him because as bad as he is hes better than Looney, or we are playing because we dont care if we win or lose.

at this point i would have started the seaosn with Looney and work Fred in.

Why would they not care if they win or lose?

Exactly. People who expected him back at full strength after a debilitating illness were being unrealistic. You are also underrating his line calls - he has a big brain and it matters. The physical dominance will return with time.

We need to keep an eye on our LB's and defense more than anything. They've regressed the most out of everyone on this team. If the line keeps protecting Dak and Co in the passing game and Dak continues to light it up, I won't fret on the offense.
Thank God Marinelli is retiring at year end. If he doesnt. He should be shown the door. I am pretty sure his contract is up as well though.

I doubt he will get better as the season wears on: I'm concerned about his stamina after the year away. But I see no reason that after a full regular offseason, he can't come back as basically the Fred we know and love next season.

That said, never stop drafting O-Linemen. You never know when you'll need them.

I agree. One reason the pass protection is better this year is because Frederick is identifying who everyone is supposed to block.

He's not 100% and won't be this year according to others that have dealt with that like Mark Schlereth. They elected to go with a <100% C physically but 100% mentally.

So, not winning enough means they don't care if they win? Damn, there must be a lot of teams that don't care about winning!

And, by the way, I've been a Cowboy fan almost 50 years.

than why are you fighting the evidence.

I have said it for many years, JJ is not concerned about the SB. No one says "you know what, our ST squad was bad last year, lets keep him around another year just to make sure he really does suck" among other ideas this franchise goes with and tells the fans "yes, we are serious about winning" no, thats not how it works.

and yes, some teams are done with winning the SB, stadiums sell, not teams. Do you think the Cardinals are really into it? Cincy? the Jets? come on, whos taking Atlanta serious, or the Chargers? How many years do you need to get it? 30? another 40?

Garrett keeps screaming "I cant do the job" and JJ keeps saying "you can do it buddy" yea, anyone serious about the SB is saying "give Garrett another couple of years while other franchises are passing him up" San fran has done it, Oakland seems to be getting on its feet, we cant even get the so called number 1 running and so called number 1 offense clicking together . i think the evidence for this year once again backs me up. but go ahead and spew none sense for the takers. its fun to watch year in and year out.

CBZ: this year seems different.

SS: nope.

CBZ: you re a hater SS.

Real world: Dallas is done again

CBZ: 8-8 is better than 7-9 SS.

SS: face palms.

No. Travis still isn't himself to be sure. But he's better than Looney was. PFF:
Looney 2018: 53.7
Frederick 2019: 61.6

Travis in 2017 was all-pro with PFF of 86.2. So it's true he's not what he was. He should recover in time.

Shining, your hypothesis reminds me of the flat-earth crowd.

well clearly that settles it. that is the difference between, what? 1 bad play, 2? clearly PFF shows why.

Where did you hear he's the weak link on the OL?

Cut him some slack. He is recovering from an illness that other players who recovered say its take a full year after returning to regain strength.

However, even when 100% Frederick is not the best center in the league and Jerry never should have paid him that much. This is Jerry trying to convince everyone he did a great job drafting Frederick in the first round. Frederick is a very good C and probably in the top 5 when he is healthy. But not the best. Jerry thinks everyone he drafts is the best. Its something he needs to correct.

i personally dont know where he ranks, but i know the line as a whole isnt number 1.

I also know Fred gets a lot of love because of what hes replaced and made the C a more stable position. I did love the pick myself.

That's a pile of BS. Yes Frederick hasn't played as he old self but I'll bet that the Cowboys knew he lost a lot of weight and strength from his illness and even though he was physically able to play this season I think they know that it may take all of this season and the off season to truly get back to his old self. If next season he's still not there then maybe it will be time to address this but there is no way the Cowboys or any other team in the same position would give up on a All Pro who had that kind of illness and not wait and see next season.

Here's how foolish that is. Lets say the Cowboys trade Frederick but because of this season and his illness history and his contract they only get a 4th round for him and then during the off season he regains all of his strength and again plays like a All Pro and that team got him for just a 4th round pick. But if the Cowboys don't trade him and he does the same the Cowboys STILL have their All Pro center.
