Keep in mind we had a cupcake practice schedule this week

You guys blew it off when I posted it but it was reported the Cowboys had a lighter schedule this past week and no pads.

Even at that, the team had a poor enough practice on Wednesday that caused the head coach to speak to them about it but still maintain that cupcake schedule the rest of the week.

After just reading Jimmy's book it really sickens me how these players are treated today.

They played like they practiced. Go figure.
These guys are going to play in 21 games this year. Fresh legs is a must.

Was there not a thread were Fat Mike said not to take the cheese this week? Well they ate it and the trap came down on them but they were able to wiggle out just before the air path was cut off. My goodness this team and then rooting for the gnats and before you could blink it was 21-0.

So, after this performance, McCarthy will go even lighter on them in practice?

They’re only allowed a certain amount of padded practices during the year. Not enough to have one for every game.

  • Teams are not allowed to add padded practices in the regular season once the 17-game seasons start. Under this new CBA, during the regular season, padded practices will be limited to 14, 11 of which must be held during the first 11 weeks

They had the lighter practice schedule and the distraction of the OBJ meetings.

So the coaches try to preach the old "don't take the cheese" line and then work the players like they were getting ready for the last preseason game.

Explains a lot of what happened today. Let's see how they handle the Jaguars.

This is a dumb thread!

Exactly what was the Cupcake schedule? Be specific?
How much shorter were practices than normal?

This time of year it is standard for teams not to have padded practices( you only get so many a season)? Did the Whiners have any padded practices this week? Did Philly?

Maybe so Risen, but this type of play smells all too familiar and I'm thinking the post-season might as well

You only get 14 padded practices in season. Don't blame that on coaching

I didn't know this, so I looked it up.

Regular season/postseason rules

  • Limit of 14 padded practices during the regular season, 11 of which must be held during the first 11 weeks (club may hold two padded practices during only one week) with remaining three during the final six weeks.
  • One padded practice per week in postseason.
  • Padded practices limited to three hours plus a walk-through with position coaches not to exceed 30 minutes.
  • Bye weeks – four consecutive days off.
