In the 1998 draft I was so hoping we would select Keith Brooking with the #8 pick but we instead took Greg Ellis. For 11 years I was rueing that pick, not because Ellis wasn't a solid player but because Brooking was a special player. But now I finally get to see Brooking in a Dallas Cowboys uniform and it feels great!

This guy is exactly the leader we have needed on this defense for a long time now. He is firey and excited and he gets the other players fired up and playing better. After their first drive our defense got itself together and played very well. Brooking could be seen on the sidelines pumping everyone up. That's what we have needed for a long time!

The funny thing is, this wasn't a great game by Brooking in terms of tackles or big plays but his leadership far outweighed anything he could have done ON the field IMO.

Keith Brooking you're my hero! :starspin

(The Ferris Buehler fans will get the reference)

I love seeing him on the sidelines-constantly talking and being a positive influence on everyone. HE IS WHAT WE NEEDED.

Yeah, Brookings is always running around pumping people up. He does it in a positive manner too. Jones really deserves credit on that signing, which at the time, looked like another Zach Thomas signing. A great player past his prime. Brooking may not be in his prime, but he is real close and he makes up for the rest with his attitude.

I love his attitude but I love his play on the field even more. Brookings is not just hollering and trying to pump guys up he is out there making plays which in turn gives him credibility with his teammates.

9. Brooking made me laugh. And so is the reaction of this message board. Brooking was told he was too old to play. He was insulted and dumped by the franchise he gave his heart and soul to. Yesterday he got his revenge, and the reaction from this board has made me laugh. I know that most everyone here on the board has been dumped before – you know the feeling of rejection. Now you get to go to the prom with the hot chick while your ex’s boyfriend has a huge zit on his nose. You flaunt it! You declare victory! You get your sweet revenge. Well, that was Keith yesterday. Get over it.
I know Keith, and he is a real class individual. He loves this city and its fans. He loved his years with the Falcons, and he wishes it ended on a different note, but that was not his choice. He remains one of the greatest Falcons to ever wear the black and red. All of this garbage of “I’m not a fan of his anymore” is just sour grapes. Get over it – Brooking was great for this team and city, and I can’t wait for the day his banner

Brooking and Sensy.. Fire and Desire.. This team needs both.. Alot of people in here hate Crayton but at least he brings swagger to the team.

I'm a Crayton fan. I have been since very early on in his career just because he was from a small school and just seemed to be able to make plays.

People bag on him but I'm always going to be thankful we have him. And i agree that he brings a swagger to the team. I like that as well.

As for Brooking...man. What a pickup. I can honestly say this is the best FA pick up we've had, outside of Bigg, in probably 10 years. Brooking is just a big time player. It's just such a shame we didn't get him a couple years earlier. I'd love to see him in Dallas for 4 or 5 seasons but I know, at his age, that's not likely.

But what a fantastic player.

Have you guys read the Falcons boards? I recommend you do so if you are in the mood for some laughter. Goodness. They're so pissed at Brooking for "showboating" and "mocking" the falcons yesterday lol.

On the first pick by Mike Jenkins, after the play was over Keith went over to the Atlanta sideline and started doing the bird wave motion with his arms and jawing a bit. I loved it

I don't get the Brooking love today - what exactly did he do yesterday? Not to be down on the guy, he's had a couple nice games, but other than doing the bird flap thing, which in and of itself ain't so hot a move, what did he do? He made fewer tackles than Barbara Carpenter for crying out loud...

This was a Wade signing all the way. And it's not a guess it's been asked and answered by Keith himself.

Energy, emotion, desire... i.e. all the things we have had shortages of over the past couple of years.

Brooking was getting picked up in blitzes yesterday which meant attention was paid him and not others.

The falcons knew where he was at all times because he had been pretty vocal about wanting to beat them.

It's too bad you didn't get to watch the game and only saw the highlights on ESPN and read the statsheet or you would have seen Brooking firing the team up, particularly the defense. They definitely responded to him too as shown by how well they played after that first drive by the Falcons.

Leadership is what he brings that we haven't seen on this team in a very long time.

Maybe you also didn't notice that he is our leading tackler on the season. Just guessing of course...
