C'mon, the man was on his way to church. You all need to cut him some slack.

I feel bad for him as I would anyone who was caught in something like that. However from a football stand point I'm not cutting him anything he has not done anything in Dallas to deserve slack, we are not talking about an All Pro player he is a special teams guy who was the best of a sorry group of FS on this team which is why Dallas drafted a FS and picked up another in FA in Coleman

I'll cut him some slack "for now".......Seems he was simply at the wrong place a the wrong time.

It seems for some people if they threw **** off the moon.....it would hit them in the face. :)

I think there was a chance Davis could get beaten out even before this incident. Davis has not done jack in Dallas, he gets out of position which has lead to several deep balls caught aginst us. He has shown no nose for the ball and has 0 ints in 39 starts. He has played well on special teams other than that I just don't see much from Davis

I'm puzzled by where you get 39 starts. Davis didn't have a single start before last season. Hell, he didn't really even see the field as a safety at all until last season. He's got 0 INT but i'm sure you remember how he had one stolen from him on a phantom defensive holding call last year.

Davis certainly did seem lost at times last year -- but you've got a guy who is the equivalent of a rookie at that spot. He's had a single year of play at FS -- many players improve dramatically after their first year.

I'm not saying he's great but you've got a situation similar to Petitti and Fabini -- if the young guy can play at a level close to the vet then the young guy gets the nod since he might get better.

Was his play that good? or is he getting slack out of some sympathy? I feel bad about what happen to him and hope he makes a full recovery which appears to be the case however this incident has nothing to do with football which that is what he is paid to do and thus far has not done anything to speak of

If he is not expected back until the end of training camp, I suspect that it will depend on how well the safety position is covered (no pun intended) by the time he gets back. If he is truly not at fault, and the org. feels comfortable with where we are with the safety position, he will be cut. If the consensus is there is still a big gap to be filled, they will retain him. OTOH, if it is determined that he did something unscrupulous to get shot, I think he is gone either way.

I have nothing personal against Davis but then again I have not seen anything out of him at all other than special teams. FS was a poorly played position for this team which is why Dallas went looking at FA and the draft and as I said I think Davis job was not that secure heading into this training camp. Now if he can make it to camp and earn the job great if not this team can sit around and wait for a guy that has marginal talent at best.

I wasn't that sold on his play.....in fact he just may see himself being beat out in TC.

I'm simply giving him the benefit of the doubt......at this momement, but, this could change at a drop of a hat.:)

As a person I hate to see that happen to Davis so weather he is telling the complete truth about this or not is not an issue with me. From a pure football stand point Davis has not done anything to deserve slack if he is missing time. Dallas is trying to build a winning football team not running a charity football camp.

I think the Cowboys will do their "research" and determine exactly what happened with this incident. If Davis' story checks out completely, I think he'll stay with the team. If it doesn't, he won't. Simple as that.

Does anyone know the exact time this incident occurred?
