I am looking at the game and I comment to a friend that Keith Davis may be f the worst starting FS in the NFL....we cannot continue to play 10 vs. 11.

Zero Plays.

Zero instincts.

Terrible angles to the ball.

NEVER the last line of defense! I see him knocked out of the play by one of our OWN LBers WAY TOO OFTEN.

I mean you cannot even make this stuff up....he is just dreadful.

He's not that bad. And you can't have a pro bowler at every position. Watkins was the one who was making zero plays back there and hurting us.

Honestly, if you stuck a random CowboysZone poster at free safety and just told him (or her) to roam around, you'd get the same result.

Agree...but I would readily take an average guy...he is BELOW average....if this is the kind of play we are going to get...I would rather play Watkins and STICK with Watkins so we can determine if we see enough to warrant him entering training camp as the starter next year

The big problem with Keith Davis is that he plays like Roy does - he likes to be close to the line and hit hard. We can't have two guys back there like that. I really hope that Watkins catches on soon so he can just start and play the pass better.

I absolutely agree...he is horrible...just horrendous...if we sat him and just played with 10 we might be better off as he is constantly in the way...tripping up our own people

He was good enough to make the roster, he isn't flashy but big pass plays did not hurt Dallas the last three weeks.

Parcells once started a guy named Elvis Patterson on his Super Bowl teams in New York who he nicknamed "Toast" on account of how much he was burned. Dallas will survive, he's no Brock Marion or James Washington or Charlie Waters but he is servicable....and bullet proof.

Davis is a special teams star (behind Fowler now), but also has the experience to not get beat every down. I think Watkins should see more time, but in NY against the Giants, big game, I'd rather the guy with some experience in there. Yea, Davis isn't too good at FS since he likes to pop people, but you cannot have 11 Pro Bowl defenders.

Watkins looks like he can be a solid center fielder, but his ego was shaken early this year and we're winning now so no need to force him into action again, let him come along on his own. See where he is next season if all goes well.

I agree, Watkins is the better cover guy. I would like him in there on 3rd down atleast. Davis looks to cheat up to much and he gets caught out of position. He also looks for the big hit which gets him in trouble.

that said, when you cant rush the passer it really doesnt matter much who's back there...they are going to get beat...nobody can cover forever, and thats pretty much what our guys have to do because the rush will never get there

yesterday was one of the more futile pass rush efforts I have ever seen...other than a couple of blitzes we never bothered Goober at all, and thats why he looked like a competent NFL QB for the first time in 6 weeks

For this game - THIS game, you're completely right. Our pass rush was inept, it was nasty. I think we were hoping Manning would hang himself, so we tried to give him the rope. He ended up playing his best game of the year. The Giants have a heck of a pass-blocking line, but that effort was crap. Of course, when they do blitz, and put pressure on him, James misses and Davis is nowhere near Shockey. Not sure that's how that one was drawn up in the sand.
