For those interested in good reading and an education on Dak and what Moore failed todo, give it a read. Since play action and 3rd and long were two big issues for the offense its not hard to also surmise that the run game failures were also a problem as was the Oline blocking. Both in the run and the pass.

But if you prefer hard evidence, the statistics suggest that Prescott is best at play-action and deep shots. He’s been in the top five of all quarterbacks in passer rating on play-action attempts for all but one of his years in the NFL. Prescott has also ranked in the top 10 of quarterbacks in passer rating on throws that travel 20 yards or more in every year of his career thus far.

Similarly, Prescott attempted a pass over 20 yards downfield on just 10.8% of his passes. That ranks astonishingly low in the league, 23rd among qualifying quarterbacks. That’s fewer deep shots than Jacoby Brissett, Geno Smith, and rookies Kenny Pickett and Brock Purdy. Not only did the Cowboys limit their deep shot passing game, they were living for the short game, targeting hitch routes at the fourth highest rate of any offense in 2022.

Much of the blame has been laid at the feet of Prescott, and unfairly so. Prescott has proven time and again that he’s an extremely gifted quarterback, but the Cowboys - and, more specifically, Moore - failed him this season.

Didn't MM recently announce the passes will now be shorter?

Anyone with a half of brain know KM dumb *** failed the whole offense. Dak didn't help himself with bad decisions, but its hard to win in this league with a low IQ offensive coordinator with a vanilla regular season scheme and too dumb to make the correct in-game adjustments like REAL professional offensive coordinators make.

Soooo glad he's gone!!

Not necessarily, but the basics of a west coast offense approach is timing so often (but not always) first reads will be shorter routes, next reads will be longer developing, and so on.

No one failed Dak but DAK!
The sooner you accept the reality of his low talent grade the better your Cowboy life will be.
Word of warning, be ready as 2023 will be Prescott's graveyard year as between the locker room and the fans his football world will become unbearable for him and folks like your good self.

We'll see.
In 66 regular season games, Kellen Moore amassed 13 40-burgers, 3 50-burgers, a 27.7 ppg which includes 17 games without Dak Prescott,
You have to go back 40 years to achieve these numbers prior to the arrival of Kellen Moore.
The problem is a quarterback who cannot sink the 8-ball. The players are coming up small - not the coordinators.

Nope. All good stats go to the credit of Dak. Moore only gets the blame for bad results.

Unless KM buzzed into Dakota's headset as to when he should throw the forward pass, how can you entirely blame him? What you are suggesting is that Burrow, Patty and a host of others have only been successful because of the OC? Your denial of Dak being Dak is comical, and you are stretching to find any excuse possible. Nobody here argues KM has not helped Dak, but to say he has failed is just silly and wrong.

You are also assuming that his lack of deep shots was due to KM not calling them? Dak has had a serious deficiency in being able to see his 2nd and 3rd reads downfield...surely this has nothing to do with his lack of attempts?

1 year of Dabol seemingly has turned Daniel Jones into Payton Manning in New York. if MM and Schotty can turn Dak into what you think his value truly is, then we will have confirmation KM was entirely to blame.....in the end Dak needs a perfect environment in front of him to be successful

Typically play action is a sell out by the offence to hit a deep to intermediate shot.

The short pass out of play action is kind of an admission that the play didn't fool the defenders and you have to then settle for the consolation prize...a dump off the back widening or leaking out of the backfield.

It's also a favorite of many younger players because the decision making is very linear. Once you make a good fake, you look at your one primary target. Not open dump the pass off.

You can't play action if the runner in the backfield is not a legitimate threat, and forces LBs and safeties to make false or hesitant steps.

When Dak is in control and on the move I feel he is a more effective QB. His play action is good. Actually real good compared to many other QBs in the league.

I'm not certain that his backfield is as much a threat at times, and that may have handcuffed the effectiveness of the plays. It's not a stretch of the imagination that once Pollard was hurt in the 49ers game all play action disappeared off the game plan call sheet.

No surprise. People in here are clueless. Have zero understanding of what they’ve just read.
