Seems like it would be an odd hire based on what Schottenheimer and Jerry/Stephen have said. Cleveland ended the year with one of the lowest number of rushing attempts in the league last year. I cant completely remember so someone correct me if im wrong, but believe the issues he had in Buffalo were that he got too pass happy as well. Since Schotty was named HC it seems theyve been looking for for an OL/run game guy to be OC while Shotty oversees the pass game.
But he was 7th in rushing the two previous year with a real football team. Browns lost their RB and has no QB

First of all they said this is a possible consideration no formal interviews have happened I'm sure they're still working on atoms but they need to have a backup plan but people keep in mind he's not calling plays or designing the offense he's therefore he's going by Brian schottenheimer's direction literally learning schottenheimer's offense and help during practices implemented also Brian schottenheimer would need help in meetings and what not just relaying information....

So whoever they hire is gonna have to go through this Ken Dorsey is not gonna be the official offensive coordinator or the play caller he just gets the title.
They want him because he is really good in the run game. Shott woukd call plays but both would likly work on overal offende with him targeting building the run gsme

I'd have to look it up but he certainly wasnt in 2023 as he was fired mid season. Maybe Buffalo was cruising in the run game before he was let go though? I honestly dont know.

Yet was fired by head coach Kevin stipanski..

And twice fired in his last two team stints....philosophical indifference with his past two head coaches ...

Just not a record and trend to be proud of..and suggest a ill advised hire ...

Sóme of you still havent figured out that A) this is not a partucularly attractive place to work and B) our cheap, lazy, and inept FO waited till all the expensive talent got hired, and are now picking through the bargain bin. Our motto is that if you are going to lose, do it cheaply.
LOL, there are plenty of talented people to go around....and Dallas is definitely an attractive place to work. Think of the guys who have got better jobs after leaving Dallas. ANd obviously, you don't have to perform very well to stick around for a long time.

As a huge fan of Ken Dorsey in college … HELL NO.

He is an awful OC. The Bills were bad until they fired Ken for Joe Brady

To go from Klayton Adams to Ken Dorsey is a massive fail
They just dangled him as bait so they could slap us upside the head with someone like Dorsey.

Huge Miami Hurricane fan here but trust me.......Ken Dorsey is an awful OC. Word is people from the Bills tried to warn the Browns how bad he was but they didn't listen.

Read this

Wow that would be crazy for us to miss. I hope Ken isn't a serious candidate, heck probably don't even deserve an interview lol

The OC hiring story is evolving to be so much more curious-er than the HC hiring story did, having taken this new turn that it has.

I say that because Koger was first out of the box, and the first to hire for any assistant position who had zero association with any of the principals... nothing connecting him to the Cowboys previously, nothing to Schotty previously, nothing to the new DC, Eberflus. Remember, coordinator hires also must meet the criteria of at least two Rooney Rule (ie, minority outside-of-the-org) candidates. So, in that light it made some sense.

Then you had Adams. Adams doesn't help the RR situation, and seemed to bring more of a compelling resume' for a position coach seeking his first pro coordinator gig. Plus, he at least had some connection to Eberflus, having been in IND with him (2019-20). One can imagine Schotty viewing the position as one where he's mainly looking for someone to take the overload of things on the offensive side of the ball, so it made/makes some sense that the job would be filled by a young up-and-comer who has the backing of some well-regarded others. (Who those "others" would be, however, is a mystery--looking at the Cardinals' staff, and having ran through all of Schotty's connections over his many years, there aren't any names that sound familiar to me.)

I mean, it kinda makes sense to hire a young pup, but then, it kinda doesn't. Put yourself in Schotty's shoes, and after 25-ish years you finally get to be lead dog, just like the goal you set for yourself as the Gators' QB as a young pup yourself. This is the guy who you're going to work most closely with through the balance of the season. And you're going to take that risk that you're going to meld with this person?

I don't think so. I could be wrong, obviously, but that doesn't pass the smell test.

But wait, the new clue came to us yesterday... Stephen mentioned that they were, indeed, seeking someone for the position who they could consider more accomplished in the run game. So? So maybe this could happen. Maybe Thursday, today, they interview a minority candidate, and go ahead with Adams after all.

Thursday came. And? What???

Name of a highly experienced (... not old but certainly not a young pup...) former OC for Bills turns up. And though Dorsey was fired, many viewed it as an excuse for McDermott to throw fans a bone as the team went through a horrid turnover ratio season. Josh Allen reportedly wasn't happy about the move at the time. (I know, I know...he also had similar end in CLE, but that experience is almost too-obviously the failing of the QB. Can't prosecute him any for that chaos that happened there, me.)

Another white guy, though. And even a little more stunning... no sooner had Stephen suggested they were seeking a run-emphasis background... than they interview someone who has mainly built his resume' on the reputation of being a passing-emphasis guy. Former QB, former QB coach... very different from Koger and Adams whose coaching focus has been on TEs and O-linemen.

WHAT'S GOING ON HERE?!?

This is a winding road. It makes no sense.

They still may end up hiring any of the three, of course, and we do know there will be at least one more candidate since they still haven't satisfied the Rooney hurdle.

Will #4 be a whole different thing as well, or will we see some theme emerge after all, some something that 3 of the 4 have in common (?). Count me as super intrigued to see how the mystery ends.

Adams from Arizona seemed like a great fit. This guy stinks
To the idea of "great fit," I propose that we have to get it that when the OC isn't the play caller, the OC label is mostly a misnomer.

The offense will be Schotty's offense, no different than the fact that the offense was always McCarthy's the last two years... not Schotty's.

Schotty was a glorified assistant... a right-hand man to the god of the offense... the guy who helps the HC implement what he wants and is otherwise just there to do all the things that the HC can more efficiently hand off to him.

So... "fit"... is exclusively a matter of what Schotty considers to be a fit. Schotty's going to rely on this person to be an extension of himself. That's as much if not more about soft skills--capacity to take instruction and to implement instruction--as it is about football smarts.

And this is why I'm captivated by how this plays out because it appears so far anyways that Schotty's genuinely considering someone he hardly knows, if at all. (McCarthy and Schotty knew each other ahead of that OC hire, obviously, because of McCarthy's connection to his dad.)
