The Seahawks' doctor is talking right now at a PC. Hamlin has a skull fracture on the left side of his head, a small blood clot on his brain and bruising of the brain tissue. He also has a broken hand. He'll be in ICU for the next 24 to 48 hours. They don't think he'll need brain surgery, but he definitely won't play for a few weeks, and he might be out for the rest of the season.

Ouch. Hopefully he's alright and recovers.

That area Hamlin was in is pretty notorious for getting out of control on weekends, I am glad Parcells has made it clear that he doesn't condone players going to those kind of places during the season.

Hamlin had a stroke two years ago?

That, my friend, is what is called a dangling participle (or is that dangling modifier?) in English. The subject of the phrase should come directly after the phrase, unless Hamlin is the "he" who had the stroke.

That aside, if you had the stroke, Jake, can you tell me how you felt leading up to that event. Were you lightheaded, did you see any signs?

Thanks.

I had a fractured skull and Hem. from the brain. I was in ICU for about 2 days and then released about 2 days later. It will be a full year before he will be allowed to even think about playing football again with such an injury. It ruined my shot at Playing Football for NC State or Va Tech. No doctor would release me to play contact sports for about 2 years. Not pouting because I was blessed to be alive, but just trying to paint a picture.

It will screw everything up mentally, from equilibrium to memory, mood, vision, and even taste buds.

"Praying" for a millionaire football player cracked over the head outside a nightclub?

C'mon. I'm glad he's out and so are all of you. It's OK, really.

Hamlin in serious but stable condition after assault

Associated Press

KIRKLAND, Wash. -- Ken Hamlin of the Seattle Seahawks was in serious but stable condition with head injuries Monday following an early morning fight outside a nightclub.

Hamlin was involved in an altercation with two men who were not in custody, according to police. He had a fractured skull, a small blood clot and bruising of the brain tissue and would remain in intensive care for the next day or two, team physician Stan Herring said.

"Right now, he is awake intermittently and talking to us," Herring said. "We're going to need more time to see if there is residual problems from bruising of the brain."

He said the most pressing concern whether the blood clot grows.

According to a police report, Hamlin, a safety, and his girlfriend were leaving the club at about 2 a.m. Monday, several hours after the Seahawks defeated the Houston Texans on Sunday night.

The girlfriend told officers that Hamlin placed his hand on another man's back and said, "Excuse me." The man told Hamlin to stop pushing, and the two men began shoving each other.

Hamlin then punched the man in the face. Another man struck Hamlin with his forearm, knocking him down, before the two men began fighting with other men nearby, the report said. Other witnesses said one of the men hit Hamlin with some sort of street sign.

Witnesses provided the names of two men to police but they were not in custody, Seattle police spokeswoman Debra Brown said Monday.

Hamlin was found lying in an intersection outside the club, surrounded by a crowd of people in downtown Seattle, a few blocks north of Qwest Field. Hamlin told the officers he was in a lot of pain, and when asked what happened, he said, "I don't remember."

The report said Hamlin did not appear intoxicated.

Seahawks coach Mike Holmgren said Hamlin called him Monday and apologized.

"I didn't feel I should even be talking to him that long," Holmgren said. "He needs to rest.

"Ken's a popular player on this team. It hit them pretty hard," Holmgren said. "As tough an incident it is, we have to keep goin'."

Hamlin, a third-year veteran from Arkansas, had five tackles in Seattle's 42-10 win.

I felt very warm and from what the people told me I was slurring my words and talking out of one side of my mouth. Of course I was also partially paralyzed on my left side, but that could explain it. I nevr blacked out and remember everything I was doing. I was lucky, my anuerysm only partially bled, and then clotted itself. I am back to 100% after having four clips inserted in my brain to and having the anuerysm wrapped. My friends were hoping I would start rooting for the Eagles, my doctor came out of surgery and told my friends and family that I bleed blue and silver...sorry... :laugh2:

I apologize for the dangling participle, when I see players that get head injuries it just sparks an immediate reaction...

Other than him being a starter I don't know how key he is to their D. Anyone got the lowdown on this guy?
The guy is a hitter back there in their secondary. He may not have any picks this year, but he lays the wood to guys across the middle. He was more of a ballhawk last year as opposed to this year.

Sounds like his season and career may be in jeopardy - too bad.

I feel for the kid but these football players have to learn - 2:00AM in bars they are sitting ducks for drunk losers to come after them. See Canty - You just can't go out at that hour in the bar scene as an NFL athlete. Or for that matter = an average joe smo

It's participle, Tyke, ;) but what a bummer for Hamlin. Poor guy...hope there are no long term repercussions of his injury.
