I just read on CBS sportsline website that Ellis faces trial this summer on felony assault charges and could face up to 20 years in prison!!
I was wishing hard for the Cowboys to take him in the third as from the scouting reports it seems he would be ideal physically but add this to his past red flags and he would be untouchable!

This is from the fight he had a while ago, it was public knowledge before the process began that he would be facing trial.

We knew about the fight and the fallout before we brought him in to be worked out, so I don't see why we would have brought him in here if he was viewed as untouchable.

I can only assume they really loved Murray or they weren't as impressed with Ellis as I thought they were, perhaps both.

I can not speak factually, but my guess is the red flags cause his name to be put on the "undraftable" list.

Here's the blurb:

2. The Jets taking DT Kenrick Ellis: Ellis faces up to 20 years in prison on a felony assault charge and is scheduled to stand trial this summer. Bad huh? He's also the guy who was kicked off the University of South Carolina team after, reports said, he failed "multiple" drug tests. Nevertheless, the Jets took him in the third round. "Based on the information that we have we feel really good about the pick," said Jets GM Mike Tannenbaum. Sorry, but I'm not sure how anyone can feel good about Ellis -- not with that record.
