I would not be surprised in the least if our rd 1 pick next year is WR and Dez is not resigned

I think Dez made a big mistake not signing a long term deal

Let's see how this year plays out

Yes.

A) We want to play in waves.

B) The game of football is a violent sport. Injuries occur.

You can never have too many pass rushers.

Yeah, and I could see us keeping Mincey or drafting another guy, but I don't think we can afford to keep Hardy

yeah those Patriots teams won 5 championships with all those high priced hall of fame receivers....oh wait.....

Such a dumb argument. Especially considering they have the highest paid tight end in the league who as a pass catcher makes their offense run.

Also the last time WE won it all there was another 88 on the field helping us do so.

Everyone stop the presses. This team can't win it all. Our WR is too dominant. That means for sure we'll suck.

Said no one ever.

I'm not very concerned about signing Dez to a long-term deal, I just don't think that you need to spend $100 million on a WR... especially when we can just franchise him again.

The guys I'd like to find a way to keep are:
Mackenzy Bernadeau - You can't have enough guys like him on the OL, he can play multiple positions, and he's the veteran presence you need with so many young guys on the line.
Jeremy Mincey - Productive, and similar to Bernadeau.
Tyrone Crawford - Feels like a budding star, my only concern is that he will follow up a good year in 2014 with a great year in 2015, and will be out of our budget.

I get both arguments, but there's a huge difference between the highest paid TE and the highest paid WR. $100 million (making and assumption) is just too much for a player that's not a QB.

Well the entire league disagrees.

And look at the last two drafts. Wrs being selected at an astronomical rate.

Dez is like Steph Curry. Through gravity alone he makes everyone's jobs easier.

Especially with the way this offense is constructed. Double Dez or stack the box?

Also can you imagine if Dez was gone and Williams was no longer getting single coverage? Our offense would get toilet clogged quickly.

How do you figure? There are a couple of WR's that demand the type of money he will demand.

Edit: I'm not minimizing the importance of the position at all, I'm just not in the party that agrees with paying a player at that position that much money.

Dez Bryant
Morris Claiborne
Greg Hardy
Mackenzy Bernadeau
Rolando McClain
Jeremy Mincey
Tyrone Crawford
Ron Leary
James Hanna

First thing the Front Office needs to ask is who stays and who goes.

Quick break down of how I see it:

Stays
Dez Bryant
Tyrone Crawford

Maybe Stays
Greg Hardy
Mackenzy Bernadeau
Rolando McClain
Jeremy Mincey

Probably Goes
Ron Leary

Definitely Goes
James Hanna
Morris Claiborne

Anyone on the maybe stays to definitely goes list should be considered for trades. Leary and Hanna should especially be looked at for trades.

I'd like to keep McClain, but the rest can probably go. Can't envision a scenario in which we keep Hardy long term. Maybe if one of our other ends busts. Bernadeau maybe stays as cheap depth. Mincey is a hard sell especially if he does well this year.

Priority 1 is re-signing Bryant followed by Crawford followed by McClain.

Hardy and Ro maybe stays Maybe?

The offensive line and defensive lines wins games and championships, that's where you invest your money, not receivers....that's why Dallas is now playing in the playoffs and why they won in the 90's, a long with one of thee most accurate quarterbacks in history....and how many catches did Dez have in the two playoff games..7?? not the difference maker as you think and you want a player occupying 15 million a season for that...... the guy who led his team in receptions in the Superbowl last year now plays for the Giants...not named Gronkowski, who isn't the highest paid and often injured over the last three years missing 16 games....Welker wanted a big contract, did the Patriots miss him, nope! You're getting to hooked on individual players instead of team...it was smart not to pay Murray and it would be smart not to pay Dez....Dez is a good player but not at 15 million a season

Won't be able to keep everyone.

I'm all for letting some of these guys go off and get their high-priced contracts and then the Cowboys getting comp picks.

STAYS - Dez, Crawford, Hardy and RoMac
IF - Mincey - age is creeping but a keeper until age and money are too much
Gone for Compensatory Picks in 2017-Leary, Hanna, Claiborne and probably Mr. Mincey

I think Mincey sticks around. He's on the other side of the 30 and isn't a big sack guy. I could see him getting another year with a similar contract number as he's getting this season.

They would probably franchise Dez again for 2016 in that scenario. If the new WR panned out, then they could move on from Dez in 2017.

if u think about it we drafted most of their positions this past draft to let them go if they are too expensive for us (other than dez). Cap control

For those of you who want to throw away a 1st rounder on AP, because apparently Dallas Cowboys football doesn't matter after 2 years...

If you make that trade, you not only lose a top draft pick. But lose out on a re-signing a key free agent.
