Zippy Speedster said:How far away is Crayton from starting? Base this on personal assessment, not what you think Parcells will do cause his favoritism isn't a part of this question. Personally I think he brings just as much to the field as either of the other two. He's almost like a combination of both their talents.
It's hard to say. He was really good as the #3 at the beginning of the season. After he got hurt, he lost alot of his explosiveness. Notice how he was our punt returner at the beginning of the season, not because of his blinding speed, but because of his explosiveness and his shiftiness. He seemed to have not regained that when he returned late in the season. I think he has the tools to be a very good WR in this league. He's got great hands, runs nice routes, but it's different when you become a 1 or 2WR, teams are gameplanning around you more.
Seatlle got rid of Robinson prior to this last season, they went to the Super Bowl. Pittsburg got rid of Burress prior to this last season, they went to the Super Bowl. Two cancers out, two rings in. Maybe there's something to it..........
I'm not sure who the cancer is. Bryant was a cancer, and he's out. Keyshawn, by all things I have heard, and his conduct on the field, is a great teammate. Glenn doesn't seem like a problem either. So I'm not sure what you are getting at.
So what do yall really think we have with Glenn and Keyshawn, what can be replaced about them, what can't be replaced about them?
Glenn was the only legit deep threat we had. So if you can find me a guy who can run fast AND play WR (no more Randall Williams), then you could replace Glenn.
Keyshawn is a good blocker, a vocal leader, and he gets the tough cathches over the middle.
Between the 2 of them, if you see 133 catches, 1,978yards, and 13td's on our roster right now, then I think we could replace them.
I don't see Reggie Wayne being a better option, he makes some amazing grabs, but let's see him outside the Colts offense. Moulds isn't the youngest guy, so I see no point in bringing him in.
Overall, it doesn't make much sense to get rid of either of them. It does make sense to add some youth to learn behind them. Perhaps the draft?
Is this going to be a type of thing where we have to literally run Parcells out of Dallas to ever see someone else playing the position over his "Detention Boys"?
Yes, his boys held the 1 and 2 WR slot, but look at Price. Parcells had the vet, and he chose to play Crayton ahead of him. That shows you that he isn't only going for vets, and that he is playing younger guys.
I can't say that our WR will hold up for another 16 game season, but I feel we have more pressing needs coming up.
