Keys To Beat The Eagles *Merge*

Man Eagles shouldn't even make the trip out here. It's not going to be pretty for them.

I agree... This OL should dominate, and by the second half, you'll see a couple of long runs by Felix Jones, because of some gaping holes. You'll see some quick strikes by the Cowboys also, but more so, in the first half, and JJ tries to blitz someone from the secondary.

Crayton should have a big game with a few first downs.

Yea this game shouldn't be close.

Terrell Owens is going to have a MONSTER game. He is going to give Samuel third degree burns after hes finished with that overpaid, over hyped product of a system.

This is really pitiful!

Sixty-four posts, all saying the same thing ...defense wins the game against my team ...the Eagles! But isn't that an obvious solution. Some of you guys might as well say ...if the Cowboys' superior DL stops the Eagles on the ground and in air they'll have a cake-walk to victory. Romo needs to throw strikes to his receivers; and the Cowboy's OL needs to open up lanes for Barber to stroll into for touchdowns. How simple can it be to win.

The best team does not always win games. Here's a twist ...what about the team tha makes fewer errors, or the team that capitalizes on turnovers and the opponent team's mistakes. I got tired of reading the same posts (metaphorically speaking) over and over, so forgive me because I stopped reading after posts 40 ...but did anyone mention "home team" advantage and the noise factor associated with the visiting team's making audibles?

I think wanting to win so bad is clouding some fans judgement. From an eagles perspective, score and get on top in the first hafl of the game ...hence, we take out the home field advantage and quiet the crowds. Next, pressure packages to stunt Romo; having one or two linebackers hanging back for the notorius screen plays. Minimize the passing (it's going to be tough if not impossible to completely shut down TO) and establish a one-dimensional Cowboys into submiossion. Turnovers, mistakes and penalties should be optimized and result in scoring situations. And by all means, score on every redzone opportunity.

Keith Davis is back for special teams and A. Jones is returning punts. Careful what you ask for.

Two quick things ...

1. Special teams are more than returning the ball (e.g., wedges, blocks and covering opponent team returns).

2. Don't be surprised if you have two completely different punt and K/o return players under the ball. I'll let you find out who they are.

Nice try.

Yes-with Keith Davis leading our ST back there, we end up shedding those wedges and blocks on the opposition pretty well.

So your point being?

Perhaps this Eagles' fan is guilty of doing that ...but isn't that the least any fan would do for his/her team (rhetorical question)?

BTW ...I've been pumped up since the off-season. The Eagles are chomping at the bit to redeem themselves after a miserable 2007 regular season.

Let's cut to the chase ...my macro point being the same things that your fans are saying ...my Eagle fans are saying. Let's just play the game first and work out the details after the game!

Like I said on other threads-Reid has done a fantastic job rebuilding this team since that '04 SB run. Sure, McNabb/Westbrook/LJ are healthy, and DeSean looks like the real deal. However-that young, fast, and talented D just scare the crap out of me. So what if you played the Rams last week? The first team units were waxing opponents in preseason.

With that being said-Reid is 6-3 at TX Stadium, including winning the last 2. I hope we get some nice payback next Mon night.

#1 rattle Mc Flab, we all know Mc flab folds under pressure, don't give him enough time to make all his reads, cover good, and hopefully it will lead to some interceptions.

#2 Our receivers are too much for Philly, Move TO around don't let him get too much bump n Run coverage, slot him, reverse him, do all you can to get this guy moving around the line of scrimmage.

#3 Unleash the Offensive line with barber first, but, but, rotate Felix Jones often, with our 2 punch system teams are dead meat, barber comes in with his bruising style then Felix slashes them for more yardage.

and #4 , hurt Mc Flab, you hurt Mc flab and its game over, and pretty much season over for the eagles, and it doesnt have to be a big hit, Mc flab knows he is fragile, and he is gonna try real hard to avoid even the slightest contact, man hes dead haha:laugh2:

I don't agree that your WR's are too much for us if we can get any pressure. Don't forget, the Eagles added Asante Samuel which seriously upgrades our CB's. Furthermore, the young LB's that we have are pretty fast. I'm not saying they can shut down Witten, but they will fare better than some other teams LB's.

I also don't agree that if you hurt Mcnabb the game is over. Kevin Kolb has looked pretty good in limited time. And this is quite Michael Irvinish of you to even suggest injuring Mcnabb. It's Roy Williams dirty.

I agree that you need to get pressure on Mcnabb...he had way too much time vs. the Rams, as did Romo vs. the Browns.

I'm saying Holland is an upgrade and Proctor is a glaring weakness. I am nervous for Romo's health when Proctor is playing on our Line.

He said he would be hopeful there isn't any set backs he gets an extra day so he should be ready.

How do you say he is an upgrade? Have you watched him play against different competition? Is it just that he is bigger? I think you believe that because he is bigger he is better and that is not always true. Against a blitz, technique and teamwork is more important than sheer size.

I'm assuming that he is talking about just smacking the qb with a good hard sack. I'm pretty sure he didn't mean to actually injure him. Most (not all) fans on this board are not that callous and realize this is just a game.

Keys.....Play up to your potential. The Cowboys have far more talent on this team then the Eagles do. The Eagles first game was against probably one of the worst teams in football. I don't think you'll see any 90 yard TDs in this game. Jackson looks like a good player, but let's not put him in the upper class yet. McNabb had great numbers, but take away some of the terrible plays by the Rams and his number come down to just OK. I saw him as usual throw the ball to low, to high; much of the same from him.

The Cowboys played what is supposed to be a very good team. They have a good WR and TE. Anderson is a joke either based on what he did last year. Bottom line, our defense was solid. I expect the same this week.

The game will be competitive, but if the players play up to their potential, then the Cowboys should win.

Show up and play........we are the far superior team. I expect the Cowboys to win, and I would hope the team does too.

I'm sure when we play the Rams later this year, there will still be some threads like this, of how are we going to beat the Rams............

We are not far superior than the Eagles. I believe we have more talent but that does not translate into more effective football performance especially in intense competitive contests.

Over the last several years they have 6-2 record beating us at our house. If we want to make a contending statement this season it needs to start with beating the Eagles convincingly come Monday. I believe we can do it, but I will reserve guaranteeing a win against them.

You see what we did to the Brown? Rinse and Repeat. :D

What worked against the Browns does not cookie cutter apply to the Eagles or any other team for that matter. That is why coaches analyze and scheme for weekly upcoming opponents and players practice accordingly.

Our vaunted Oline fell apart in the playoffs after being repeatedly pressured by the Giants Dline whose coach, Spagnola who is a graduate of Eagle Shytebird University.
