Keys To Beat The Eagles *Merge*

My concern with Holland is how he will work in unison with the current lineman. When dealing with heavy blitz teams it comes down to the communication of the lineman working together. Hell you send 2 or 3 defenders at LG Holland nor is Proctor going to do the job alone. It comes down to the OL working as a unit.

I agree. Proctor seemed to do okay in Cleveland. But this is a key to winning the game.

On offense:

1. Stop the blitzes
2. WR recognition to win blitzes which I suspect will come until stopped/beaten
3. win TOP
4. keep drive stopping penalties to bare minimum
5. run the ball once the run blitzing stops

On defense:

1. Contain McNabb and limit his runs; spy if necessary
2. Win the third down battle
3. Pressure the QB
4. Contain Westbrook
5. Limit big plays

There is talent on their club and they're well coached. We need to win the basic battles and keep McNabb and Westbrook from beating us.

23-19 Dallas

I'm surprised no one has highlighted the real key to beating the Eagles. We must contain Bryan Westbrook. He killed us in Dallas last season and he is MUCH more dangerous than McNabb.

1. Stop Bryan Westbrook
2. Defeat the blitz, particularly up the middle.

I did.

Offensively I think we have to establish enough of a running game to slow down the blitz and take our shots down field when they present themselfs. One thing I know about Jim Johnson defense he love his CB sitting on the hot routs if we can pick up the blitz there should be some big plays down field for the taking.

Defensively I want to see Dallas playing with controlled aggression, we need to get after McNabb but we can't just allow them to throw out screens or quick passes to Westbrook. The defense also has to be aware of the TE up the middle of the seam, Philly and New York love running that rout on us and we can't be giving L.J. Smith those deep passes down the middle.

Lastly for both of our units we need to cut down on the penalties, don’t give the opponent second chances

Must have beat you my a nanosecond. Couldn't agree more. They won't stop us completely IMO. We just need to stop them more than they stop us. Simple.

I hope they put Zack on Westbrook. He'll just have to not miss tackles. And they'll need someone deep. I don't really know how to defense clearing then throwing to Westbrook underneath. Not sure even Zack is quick enough to stop him. I'm sure they are game planning McNabb and Westbrook.

You defeat the blitz by first having players who can recognize the blitz.

Proctor may not be as stout as Holland, but he is much more knowledgeable about the scheme and has better chemistry/communication RIGHT NOW with the rest of the OL.

Holland's time will come, I would just rather not rush him against a team like the Eagles who employ not only complicated, but exotic, blitz schemes.

Man i don't think Thomas could guard westbrook.

I have zero faith in Proctor I don't understand where your misguided faith comes from but it not going be good for Romo.

The same as usual:

Protect Romo
Avoid turnovers
Control Westbrook
Don't let McNabb beat you with the big play to his WRs

Quick drops on offense. Screens and Draws. Torch their blitz early and often, and we might get them to back off.

Defensively, you gotta keep Westbrook in check. I think our DB's can shut down their WRs, but I don't like McNabb back there with time to pick out DeSean Jackson.

Also, ST, especially the coverage units. I saw DeSean Jackson play alot in college, and as many of you saw last week, the guy is a playmaker. Our coverage units need to contain this guy. If it's a close contest, you don't want to lose on ST mistakes...hopefully we aren't going to be punting too often.

We are a better team, on paper, so if the team shows up and executes, I think we should win this game. Hopefully they don't underestimate the Eagles, even with their crap WR corps.

You guys think we play alot of Zone? COver 2 maybe? If so, we gotta keep Johnson in check over the middle.

I think the key to winning this game is dominating in the run game, they must use all three of those dynamic running backs.

We simply have to play up to our capability. The only strategy I can really see is to make the WR of the eagles beat our D. Control the run and make them show that they can beat our coverage. Personally I do not think they can without a lot of help from their running game.

As I said not sure he can but he'll likely get isolated on him on 1-2 downs at times. If he comes thru the line on Zack's side or gets into the flats or gets underneath any way on that side Zack will have to account for him.

I don't have Proctor's grade but he had to have done well because we ran the ball well, pass protected well, and had little penetration up the middle. And I'm sure they tested him thoroughly. That doesn't mean they couldn't play Holland or that Proctor will fold under the pressure of Philly's D. But I suspect he'll start again. And I wouldn't be surprised if he did fairly well. We'll see.

I'm more worried about the younger RBs picking up the blitz and Stanback running to the right spot on the field when necessary. I'd also suspect they could play Witten wide or motion to be the third WR. I just don't know how much he's going to have to stay in and block. Or how they'll use Curtis to block.

Proctor was getting pushed back a lot. With someone lining up over top of him its going to be hard for him. Yea Felix picking up the blitz scares me he can't block and thats going to hurt us more than his running ability can help. We might see some sets with Bennet or Curtis or Witten while in shotgun to help pick up the blitz.

the eagles are bullies so you do what jimmy johnson said... you walk up to them and punch them right in the mouth. you run all night long and take their manhood from them. you don't have to worry about their blitz package if you are ripping off 5 yards a carry.

#1 rattle Mc Flab, we all know Mc flab folds under pressure, don't give him enough time to make all his reads, cover good, and hopefully it will lead to some interceptions.

#2 Our receivers are too much for Philly, Move TO around don't let him get too much bump n Run coverage, slot him, reverse him, do all you can to get this guy moving around the line of scrimmage.

#3 Unleash the Offensive line with barber first, but, but, rotate Felix Jones often, with our 2 punch system teams are dead meat, barber comes in with his bruising style then Felix slashes them for more yardage.

and #4 , hurt Mc Flab, you hurt Mc flab and its game over, and pretty much season over for the eagles, and it doesnt have to be a big hit, Mc flab knows he is fragile, and he is gonna try real hard to avoid even the slightest contact, man hes dead haha:laugh2:

I like em all........He is glass, I say we mash him a few times. Even if he doesn't get hurt, he will be throwing that ball a little faster and it will lead to turnovers. We all know what turnovers do for him. (Check last years game with the R. Williams interception) It puts a big L next to their game that week!!

Man Eagles shouldn't even make the trip out here. It's not going to be pretty for them.
