LaTunaNostra said:I respect your take but think it's over-reactive, particuarly the 'thug behavior' aspect.
Key is very volatile, always was - always will be, Yes, it is incumbent upon him to try and control his emotions. But his fiery nature is a very positive ingredient in the team mix, I think. We NEED it.
IMO Bledsoe, was flat out wrong to say anything at all critical to a ten year vet who hangs his pride on winning, and saying it immediately after that type of play, when the receiver is already abashed. It's humiilating enough to lose the ball in that fashion, on national tv, in front of the home town fans. No one needs the added value of a 'learn to hold on" in full view of the cameras.
A rook or young player, go ahead, and make him aware of what you think he did wrong. But Keyshawn Johnson has earned the privilege of not being talked down to.
You don't condescend to a peer. Had I been Key, I'd have told him to go F himself in no uncertain terms. You don't talk down to and shame a fellow vet publically. And if you feel you have to make a point, you wait til he cools down, and do it privately.
Bledsoe has always had this "I'm never at fault" problen,. THAT is what I hope does not rear its ugly head here, because it colored his previous tenures in NE and Buffalo. He is patronizing by by nature and that's why his particular brand of leadership has never been very successful.
With as good a game as Drew had today, with the score so far ahead, why did Bledsoe even consider making a remark..especially since the play itself was not clear cut on Johnson?
Go be the man with Copper or Rector. That won't fly with Johnson, who has to respect the QB he works with, and expects respect in return.
As Troy said, no big deal, and it will blow over, but it was Drew who was wrong, not Key. Bledsoe is the one who needs the attitude adjustment, if anyone does. My guess is Drew has already apologized.
There is no thuggery here that I see..just a dynamic and charismatic player refusing to be treated like a rookie.

Drew is going to do it again - He got in the face of a guy who made a critical fumble! Great leadership - something lacking in Dallas for 10 years!
Go Drew! LTN and Miki - this has to suck all the success Drew is living!

leave it to cowboylover and parcellswaterboy to waste their time caring
LaTunaNostra said:LMAO Nors...and a year from now I am sure we will be be a better tea m with Henson. :laugh2:
People are still talking about America's biggest fraud : Drew Henson??? OMG! Give it a rest!!! He's only here b/c a face save for JJ.Nors said:Want a mulligan? Bledsoe beat out Henson fair and square and will do so for as far as he feels like playing. Not even close - in fact Romo had beat Henson ourt last 2 years as #2. You and Miki are taking it in the muffler on Bledsoe sux rants....lol
Nors seriously, I'm thrilled with Drew's 'comeback' this year..tho he won't qualify for the official 'Comeback of the Year" award the other Drew won last season.Nors said:Want a mulligan? Love the game he's playing lately, but personally, I will never care for him, not until just once, just once I see him take another player's back. Just once, be it on the field as Key did with Terry last season, or back a guy up who's having contract issues or whatnot.
Like Aikman did with Irvin, no matter what hot water Mike got himself into, did he ever ever ever doubt, Troy loved him?
Seeing those guys at the ROH with their arms around each other, the glances between them..that comes with winning and with rings and with success, but it is also the measure of the man himself - something more than football, a human bonding and a warrior's regard for what was gone thru together.
The same kind of deep regard that brings Tuna's ex-players flocking to him, or long retired ones getting teary talking about what the experience of playing for him meant.
None of that almost mystical regard of one teammate for another has ever been a part of the Bledsoe persona, story, or game. And that's too bad, for him.
Too bad Bledsoe never got to experience what Aikman or Tom Brady did - but leadership is what more than anything does separate Troy and Tom from Drew. Leadership is what Brady brought to NE that Drew had not. And sadly, when I see Drew's first reaction is to play the blame game, in some mistaken idea that public demonstrations of pecking order is what commands respect, I see the spectre of his failed leadership in NE rear its head. I see what was lacking and why that team so readily embraced a sixth round nobody.
Yes, I'd take Keyshawn Johnson and his 'thuggery' over Drew Bledsoe and his brand of leadership every time. For one thing, I admire what Key made of himself and knowing where he came from, and what a survivor he is, the journey he had to take to success fuels my admiration even more. Both players are damn good men and give back a lot to the community, but for Keyshawn, it's a double victory to be able to do so. And I love how Key connects.
Johnson is genuine and just, well, my kinda guy, and whether he's a Jet, Buc, or Cowboy, I love him.
So okay, you've got a mulligan.
But don't think for a minute Key couldn't wipe the floor with Drew in a heartbeat. LOL
LaTunaNostra said:Yes, we are going to have to disagree on this one.
I live in NE and have caught Bledsoe's 'nothing is ever my fault' act just as you caught Key's act in Florida.
We've got two good players who are not perfect. You see thuggery in one; I see undue arrogance in another.
But they're both 'OUR' players, and we could do far worse.
We could haveTO and Jeff George issues.
So as Troy suggested, I'm willing to let this one go - the players are, I'd wager.

Very amusing reply. I wonder if you realize how you contradicted yourself in such a short post.dannywhites said:Very amusing thread. But to put this all in perspective, this is Bledsoe's team, pure and simple.
It simply does not matter how long he has been here, because when all is said and done,Parcells will do anything he has to do to win.
And plain and simple,Bledsoe is more important to this team than Johnson, and Parsells knows that.

. Yes said:Remind me not to read your posts again. I think you've gone off the deep end in your attempt to justify your hate for Bledsoe and your predictions gone wrong.
parcellswaterboy said:Hey LTN..
we agree to agree here..
This whole team is lead by a merry band of Parcells gypses trying to give it one last shot before their careers fade.
Therefore, it's not surprising that we'd have a disagreement from two BP guys that have had a hard time admitting they do anything that's their fault.
I think they both get it from their coach, BP.
Another guy who never admits he's wrong..until it's so obvious to the rest of the world that he HAS to change.
So we'll see if these guys can keep their egos out of the mix and play this season for the team.
What a concept.
The team.
Not the individuals.
Haven't had that since '95.
Still waiting to see if we have one yet.
Team that is.
I know we have the individuals. Just watch the ESPN highlight reel all this week.
We'll see.
Later.
