Parcells Reaches Out To His Former Player

Dolphins Vice President of Football Operations Bill Parcells is telling Keyshawn Johnson that if he un-retires he can have a job in Miami. Sources are telling CBS4 Sports that Parcells is reaching out to his former receiver in New York and Dallas about possibly joining the Dolphins.

Johnson worked with Parcells at ESPN in 2007 as a football analyst after being waived by the Carolina Panthers before the 2007 season.

Parcells coached Johnson with the Jets from 1997-1999 and later with the Cowboys from 2004-2005. He spent four seasons with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in which he was part of the team that won Super Bowl XXXVII.

Johnson was the overall number one pick of the Jets in 1996 coming out of USC. In his eleven seasons in the NFL, Johnson made three Pro Bowls, caught 814 passes for 10, 571 yards, and 64 touchdowns.

I have a feeling this can bring his cousin Chad to Miami, would like to see him
come to Dallas.

Not surprised at all about Key being possibly in a Miami uniform. I don't see Chad Johnson being on the Miami sideline, at all.

He never had any speed so I know no reason why a year rested that he can't be a 60 reception WR. Parcells brings in these guys to bridge to the future. You immediate infuse Vets that buy in till you can restock youth. Rebuilding with potential and youth just don't work and Ireland and Parcells know that.

Good, get him off the TV. He's awful.

Last year at the Draft he compared every WR taken to himself. Please talk him into it Bill.

I thought Key was ok, sometimes gets carried away. Its the Irvin, Sanders thang now in in 2007/2008.

Wait till TO, Chad get these TV gigs - lol

Parcells was real good in that role. A football dude.

I liked Bill in that role, always do. Key didn't bother me really. Over the top sometimes, but that's alright. He was ok.

Ummm, shouldn't the GM and the Head Coach be handling this.

Not when Bill Parcells is VP of Football Operations they shouldn't.

Exactly right.

I think football production is the last reason they would bring him in. Parcells would bring him in for his lockerroom presence and the ability to put some work ethic and swagger into a lockerroom that has to reek of self pity and timidity after almost going winless. It's not like they don't have an empty roster spot ... they probably only have 10-15 NFL quality players on the roster.

Key is not a bad addition for a Dolphins team that needs some leadership. He doesn't have speed, but he never really did. He'll be a quality move the chains, possession kind of guy for them. They'll, of course, need something more on the otherside to help him (I don't know that Ted Ginn Jr. is the answer there, I'm still shocked they reached on him so high) but he'll provide them some vet leadership and give them a little work ethic and attitude adjustment that seems to be missing there right now.

That swaggar sure worked in December when Keyshawn was playing for Dallas....

Let the defense of Parcells continue...

My Mom may be able to cover Key now - as long as he doesn't push off, of course.

Yeah but nothing beat when he was talking about how he was going to take Dwayne Jarrett under his wing and then he was released a few days later.
