I'm no Key fan, but we have a great deal in him for the money.

His catches, his yards, his TDs, and just as importantly his blocking, not only in the secondary, but blocking LBs and DL on some plays??? He's a steal for his salary.

If we cut him, it won't be to save the money...it'll be because he thinks he deserves a huge raise, and we may not be willing to give it to him.

That is a spot on statement IMO. I like what Key brings to the team, but there is no way I give him a big payday.

Key is due $1.5M next season but $3.25M in 07 according to the NFLPA site

I could see us letting him go after next year. Hopefully by then we will have a replacement for him.
$3.25M for a solid possession receiver. I dont know if thats a good deal or not, but if we can swing it, I dont have any problems with paying him. I like Key and think hes vastly underrated and very valuable.

I agree, while he has performed well for his age, I would rather get someone else. However if he will sign for cheap I will take him, I would rather have some more speed.

I would rather the cowboys make a play for Eric Moulds than Owens. Other than this year, Moulds has been a model citizen. Moulds, Glenn, and Bledsoe would all have great chemistry. If the cowboys get Moulds I would have no problem cutting Keyshawn. However, the Cowboys need to sign someone in order to cut him. Johnson is not very fast, but he will block people no other wide reciever will block. I don't know if Owens or Moulds will be happy helping with the run game. In the end, Bill Parcells will not cut Keyshawn Johnson!! So this discussion has no relevance. Unless Bledsoe goes to bat for Moulds.

Terrell Owens could replace Keyshawn, but few others could. The man simply makes too many key plays.

What's hard to tell are the plays he is not making because he can't separate without being physical and doesn't have enough speed to gain much YAC. Dallas is in desperate need of a YAC WR.

To save 1.5 Mill?

No way do you cut him.

He makes plays and Blocks downfield!

The Cowboys would only sit on that 1.5 and not spend it!

Now if they're going to go after TO...Do it! And then Only if you can keep both!

People.....if we could lost Key, who would smack the **** out of hotshot DBs who think they're gonna come in and lay the lumber on him, yet are knocked to the ground themselves? That in itself is worth 1.5 large. ;-)

You know, I've watched every game at least twice and I just don't see this. He puts in effort in every route even if he is the last read. Not to mention is blocking.
I'm not saying he doesn't do what you say but what game film are you watching? Certainly not a replay of TV coverage, no way you can see what a receiver is doing every play from that.

I said I didn't see him give up on routes. Like you've so kindly pointed out, maybe he has when TV coverage was not focused on him. But you think if it was a common occurance as the poster I was replying to suggested, he would be caught at least once doing it while the cameras are on him?

And after reading your post twice, I still don't understand the point of it. Don't really need a different camera angle for that.:D
