What you guys are failing to realize is that most of Keyshawn's career has been during the salary cap era. Look at the the team Irvin had supporting him with no salary cap to contend with and a consistent QB. How many QB's has Keyshawn had? Look at the situations Keyshawn has been in and Irvin respectively. I'm not making excuses but Irvin obviously was in a much better position to prosper.

Keyshawn has put up some very respectable seasons, and while he may not be eligible now he could very well be on pace for the HOF. Depends how the chips fall.

As long as Bob Hayes stays out of the Hall Keyshawn ain't got a chance.

the "hall of fame" for the most part is a joke anyways.

that being said, the one receiver i would like to be inducted that did not play for the cowboys is Tim Brown.

he was a great one......... in every way.

ok if keyshawn helps us win two superbowls in the next three years and he puts up numbers like 1200 plus in yards...12 td's...for those three years then he may have a chance but other than that there is no way he is getting in...

Who cares if he's a HOF anyway? Does it really bother any of you if he thinks of himself as a HOFer? Doesn't bother me. As long as he keeps performing on the field he can think of himself as the greatest of all time for all I care.

I can remember O'Donnell one year, Frank Reich, the kid from Ohio St., Vinny, the one year with Ray Lucas and Mirer, Shaun King and Brad Johnson before he came here last year.

Not big on HOF selection commitee considering the number of Cowboys who have been passed over. With that being said, Key just hasn't had a HOF impact on any of the teams that he's played on. Obviously he's had a decent career and his numbers will be comparable to other receivers already in. He simply has not been a significant difference maker in his career.

He's not hurting himself with his recent play and if he continues to do well he could possibly make some people think twice when that time comes.

I'm surprised that Key's numbers are that good. His stats for his first nine years are almost identical to Irvin's. He actually has 2 more TDs than Michael.

One thing I see is that Keyshawn has been absolutely consistent throughout his career.

Three more good years and Key's numbers will basically mirror Irvin's.

I thought Keyshawn's argument that if he had played with one QB, especially if it were Aikman, he would have had much better stats than Michael. And he's right, just look at Marvin Harrison and Jerry Rice...it matters who throws you the ball.

Kerry Collins
140 games played
30,749 yards passing
159td 154int

Chris Chandler
181 games played
28,484 yards passing
170td 146int

Ken Anderson
192 games played
32,838
197td 160int

Troy Aikman
165 games played
32,942
165td 141int

If you go by the numbers here I guess this means Troy Aikman was no better a QB than Kerry Collins!

He won't make the HOF but it has nothing to do with him being a Cowboy and everything to do with the fact he isn't good enough.

I wish he'd worry about 2005, 2006, and as many seasons as he is here over whether or not he has earned the HOF. IMO he shouldn't even be thinking about this right now. Thinking about it won't make him a better WR. Play the game and let the HOF take care of itself.

Hos the quote that he posted was taken out of context as he posted it for this thread. STSINAZ obviously took a clip from what I posted from Keys radio show and put a spin on it. The conversation was about Irvin calling him and Terry number 2's. Heres what Key said

Michael Irvin is a good player. He’s no Jerry Rice, no stretch of the imagination, to me. That’s just my opinion and people may say I don’t know what I’m talking about but he was no Jerry Rice, he’s no Charlie Joiner, and he’s definitely going to go into the HOF one day. I will too one day. You know, one day. I’ll have numbers I’ll have rings, I’ll have all those things. But will that give me the authority to tell someone that they’re a bunch of number 2 and number 3 receivers?

Notice he said "one day" he'll have number AND ringS. He's being cocky and hungry to win. Not like he just stood up and said "hi, my name is Keyshawn Johnson and I'm a Hall Of Famer"

Danny White said:
Of course Key is not a HOFer, at least not yet.

But you know what? I'm glad he thinks he is or can be. Do you want a receiver (of all positions) who thinks anything less of himself? I'll take that (over) confidence over a shrinking violet everyday.

I haven't always been a Key fan, but I've come to appreciate his attitude a bit more over the years. He thinks there's no way any of these guys can cover him, and he just goes out and makes plays. I think a lot of his effectiveness stems from his attitude, and I don't want him to ever lose that while he's wearing the Star!

And one last thing... if he can keep it up for a few more years, put up great stats, and help us win a Superbowl or two... he just MAY end up earning that spot in Canton... it certainly isn't the biggest stretch in the world.

Here are his numbers. even if he has three more seasons at 8 or 900 yards I dont think he gets in. He has truely overrated himself. He is not a Michael Irvin and has never been a Michael Irvin! I dont care where he was drafted!

Is he crazy! check out michael's numbers and you will see how crazy he is!

I dont think KJ is a hall of fame caliber WR but he could have a case if he remains the #1 WR here and we have some Super Bowl success. He did go to/win a SB with Tampa Bay and has never been a #2 WR tho his skills may be best suited for that duty now.

If he gets to 100 TD catches, 12k yards receiving, 2 or more SB's won then he'd have a very good argument. So that would be 3 more very good by his standards seasons which is possible since he doesnt rely on athleticism at all and seems to have a QB who can get him in the end zone.

With Irvin there is no argument, he is a hall of famer. He really was a 1st ballot guy and I guess it was just a matter of wanting him to go in with Aikman.

Both Irvin and KJ have far superior stats to some scrubbish Steeler Wrs who made 4-5 catches a game and got in the Hall of Shame.

Agree completely. Key and Irvin both. Their WR skills are exceeded by their obnoxious personalities. They are both easy to hate.

YOU NEED to reread his statement...he said michael will be a HOF one day. Then right after that he said I WILL TOO...IMPLYING he thinks he is going...he has terribly overrated himself as usual...he needs to play at the level he thinks he is at and i will be happy...

I would agree his opinion of himself is overinflated but he also has 3 TDs already and they seem to come at key times for the club. If he was a Hall of fame caliber Wr he would be performing up to par right now through 3 games.

Parcells loves him and that says a lot.

here is something else he said....

"I just know what type of player I am. I know that when my career is over, wherever he's ranked, he'll be under me. That's what I know."

regarding michael irvin..is he crazy? he will never measure up to michael...if he is just talking numbers then that may be true but not ranking as in who is ranked higher in the eyes of the people...keyshawn needs to realize what he is...a #2 receiver...all of our receivers are #2's...if you have a probowl TE and a good runningback you can get by...i dont agree with michael's statement about if drew throws 25 times of more we will lose...that obviously is not correct...

Or maybe being the kind of guy he is, he wouldnt want to be under anybody, Key is not the kind of guy to say "oh well he's better than and he will be better than me", just because he said doenst mean it will come true, to me the fact that he wants to be above Mich is better for us because that means he will play on the same level mich always came to game with, i could care less what he belives, when he gets on the field and constantly gets us criticl frist downs, and puts us either in the endzone or in postion for an TD, then ti's all good to me. The fact that he wants to be bettter than micheal shows how true of a football player he is.

If you are refering to me I dont have to reread anything. I posted his show word for word as I record it digitally each week and occasionally call in. I listened to the rebroadcast again and YES he said "I will too." You need to read/hear everything. He also said he will have the numbers and rings. He has but one ring as of now so that tells me he plans on building his resume. He gets a few rings, his numbers go up and he WILL be a HOF receiver. Thats what he said. didnt say he is right now today, he said when his career is over. So even by what you just said your thread title is not correct. You said yourserlf he saying "he will too" not I am now

Don't hate the player hate the game

dude you are missing the point, see your thread is saying that Key said he is a HOF Now, there in the nice little quote he said one day, whihc means once he retires he feels he would have the stats and rings to get into te HOF, instead of being mad and hating on a player who wants to win, you should just admire his desire. Not alot of people care about the HOF, all they want is the money (hmmm TO ring any bells)
