Dolphins | Receivers in demand?
Sat, 19 Aug 2006 05:03:22 -0700

Armando Salguero, of the Miami Herald, reports the Miami Dolphins' depth at the wide receiver position has drawn interest from other teams in terms of prospective trades. The Dallas Cowboys are said to have contacted the Dolphins about the possibility of trading for a wideout, possibly WR Kelly Campbell. ''These are good problems to have,'' head coach Nick Saban said of Miami's depth at receiver. "You'd like to have them at every position, where it's difficult to trim to figure out who are the best guys

Entering his fourth season out of Georgia Tech University, Campbell was one of Culpepper's receivers with the Vikings from 2002-04. He did not play in 2005 because of drug and weapon possession charges, but this season he has landed with a familiar quarterback in a different uniform.
While Culpepper is attempting a comeback from surgery, Campbell is making a comeback of a different type — from a mentally trying year away from football.
He was arrested for possession of marijuana and a stolen handgun in Georgia, and reached a deal with the Fulton County District Attorney to avoid trial.
As a result, Campbell was forced to watch from the sideline the entire year.

Sorry, this doesn't scream "Parcells guy" to me.......

Living up here in South Dakota and HATING the Queens, i've watched the kid play a bunch. He's a deep threat with a career 18.6 YPC. (compared to Glenns 14.9 career average) He's pretty tough little dude that can return KOs. I have no idea about the kids off field stuff, but on the field we could do worse for a 6th-7th, IF he's healthy.

I'm hoping IN TIME Green becomes our next KMart. But now, he's as raw and sushi. I bet he catches 0 passes this year.

When they drafted Green they knew they weren't getting a polished wr, they were getting a great returner. The fourth rounder they gave up ensures me that the plan all along was to give him the returner job.

Parcells doesn't trust rookies thats why he's looking for a vet wr. After Crayton they all are technically rookies. Hurd, Rector(Copper has shown he isn't much more than a STs player)

Peraonally I like Adams better. I wouldn't mind more of a 'name' if we are adding another WR. At least someone I have heard of.

Parcells already stated tht Green was not drafted as a receiver .. said he's too short and a LONG way from being a receiver in the NFL. He was drafted as a punt/kick returner. I don't remember which press conference it was but it was early in camp. He didn't say he would never be a receiver, just that he was not drafted to be one right away.

It's only been one preseason game but he had better show more as a return man than he did in the first game or he will be looking for a job.

We are looking for durable wide receivers or a wide receiver that could be elite and not durable. If we looking at Compbell, we should just look at Charles Rogers.

If we keep on getting injury prone players we going to need more insurance at that position. We just creating more enigmas for ourselves.

We need to check out the wide receivers in Detroit. Like Mike Williams.

or just trade for Ashley Lelie and stop being cheap. Cowboys are looking for a bargain. I hope the Cowbos don't get Campbell. I hope the Cowboys smell the folgers in their cups and get either Charles Rogers, Mike Williams, or Ashley Lelie. or just sign Chris Henry.

Kelly Campbell has at least done something in this league. He's averaged roughly 20 catches a season, but at 18.6 yards per catch. So he's got some great deep speed.

OTOH, Rogers has averaged 12.2 yards per catch and isn't worth the time.
